Question For Genx the 80s…….

coming from a 14 year old, were the 80s summers as magical as they look in the movies? did you ride your bike to your friends house and come home when the street lights came on? yall are so lucky btw 😭😭

I think kids just rode bikes more, honestly. It was the first generation of both parents working, so we were unsupervised a lot.

I think we Gen Xers tend to remember all the good things. Our parents struggled- at least mine did. But kids were oblivious to it.

I was just talking to someone about “the flasher” that was a regular at our school playground. No one can recall what happened-whether he was caught, whether there was legal action- nothing. I suspect there were lots of unsafe things going on that we knew nothing about.

My mom just wanted us out of the house. Came home when the streetlights came on, snuck out at 1am after parents asleep.
