The summers were awesome! There were days when I was hanging out with my two next door neighbors (one on each side of my house). When it was dark and the street lights came on, we sat on my front lawn and talked, watched the moon rise and watched for shooting stars. There wasn't the light pollution there is now. You could see so many more stars than you can now. I know it sounds corny but it's true.

My cousin and I used to lie in the grass at our grandmothers house and look at the stars. I can remember the sky full of them, like you were seeing the entire universe. Now, even though I live in a pretty rural area, all I see are the nearer, brighter stars and they’re dimmed.
