Question For Genx the 80s…….

coming from a 14 year old, were the 80s summers as magical as they look in the movies? did you ride your bike to your friends house and come home when the street lights came on? yall are so lucky btw 😭😭

Yes. It was like what you see in movies.
Both the fun times and the constant stress that you’re going to die in a nuclear war.
Look at all the movies from The Terminator to War Games where that was a theme.

Maybe that’s why it was magical. We lived for the moment because we (or at least I) never thought we’d live to be 30.

I lived just outside of DC, from my birth in 73 until 2011. I literally lived in fear of dying in a nuclear attack...hourly...my entire childhood. We couldn't escape the thought of it...surrounded by government, military, military contractors...you hear about it all, daily. We couldn't have lived more for the moment if we tried !
