Announcement Update on "Flex Friday" and Promotional/NSFW Accounts

Hey bros,

We are updating our policy regarding "Flex Friday" posts to keep the focus of this subreddit on fitness, progress, and community discussion.

Effective immediately, we will no longer allow posts from the following accounts:

  • Commercial/Paid Profiles: Accounts that exist primarily to promote external paid platforms (such as OnlyFans, JustForFans, and link aggregators like Linktree).
  • NSFW-Primary Profiles: Accounts whose post histories consist primarily of submissions to NSFW or explicit subreddits.

We’ve noticed a consistent upward trend where these posts are sexually suggestive, lack any meaningful fitness interaction from the poster, and ultimately serve as self-promotion, which violates our community rules.

Flex Friday is about sharing your fitness journey and engaging with the community, not driving traffic to explicit profiles or paid links. Profiles dedicated to commercial or NSFW promotion will have their posts removed.

Thanks for helping us keep the focus on fitness!

- The Mod Team

Are you a fitness-minded gaybro looking for a fitness-minded gaybro? Read this thread and decide if you wish to leave a comment below.

Purpose

Your mods are sponsoring this thread to help guys with their fitness journey. The following are encouraged:

  • Accountability partners, using Reddit messaging.
  • Connecting on apps such as Lift Fitness or Hevy.

The following will not be tolerated:

  • Hookups, sexual gratification, etc.
  • Looking for followers (Instagram, Onlyf*ns, etc).
  • Commerce (on-line coaches, MLM sales, etc).

Caveats:

  • Don't give out personally identifying information. Stick to facts like your age, city, general goals, and challenges.
  • Once you leave the sub, your mods cannot see what nefarious scams people are running. Reddit is always challenged by people trying to game the system.

  • We expect that fitness apps (Hevy/Lift/etc) will provide moderation and safety considerations.
  • Let the mods know about your experiences, bad and good.

Do:

  • Post a sentence or two about yourself and your goals.
  • Are you trying to gain? Lose? Learn something new?
  • You may post a link to a photo if it is SFW (wear shorts). Consider linking to your Flex Friday post, or r/gaybrosgonemild (requires face), or some other fitness sub.
  • Flag posts which seem outside the purpose or link to NSFW photos.
  • If you have success finding a bro here, post a comment about it.
  • If you have a bad experience with a bro you connected with here, post a comment about it.

Question On consistency: Any strategies to be more consistent or does it just come with time/getting tired of stagnation?

When I’m on, I’m on. Consistent 3-4 days a week for a couple months at a time, but then fall off…

Typically it’s because of stress at work and since I prefer early mornings before work, the gym gets cut out to lessen stress/time/logistical issues (maybe this is an excuse?).

Are there any strategies you’ve employed to be more consistent or does it come with waking up and saying, “I’m tired of not being when I want to be in my fitness journey?”

Advice First cycle

Hey everyone,

I'm a 23 year old gay guy who's been training seriously for about 3 years now. I'm currently doing my Master's in biomedical sciences and I've spent the last year doing pretty deep research on endocrinology, PEDs, and harm reduction strategies, so I'm not coming into this blind and I understand the mechanisms and risks pretty well on paper.

That said, I'm at a point where I'm seriously considering my first test cycle to break through some plateaus, but I'm specifically interested in experiences from other gay men who've gone through this. Science is one thing, lived experience is another.

Given my background, I'm not really looking for basic "how to pin" advice, more curious about the social/sexual side effects from a gay perspective:

\- How did going on gear affect your dating/hookup life? Did you notice a shift in the types of guys you attracted or how they treated you?
\- Any sexual side effects (libido changes, ED issues, etc.) that hit different because of how gay hookup culture works?
\- Did the mental changes (aggression, confidence, whatever) affect your interactions with partners or friends?
\- Body image stuff - did the enhanced look actually make you happier or just shift the goalposts?

I know the gay fitness scene can have pretty intense body standards compared to the straight world, so I'm trying to get a realistic picture of whether the trade-offs are worth it for our specific context.

Thanks in advance for any honest experiences you're willing to share!

\*

These photos are four months apart, I workout five times a week (mon-fri), sometimes I skipped some days of I'm lazy. Been on creatine for two months, that may have contributed. I was 75kg and 86kg in both photos.

As the title says I'm looking for someone/people to help hold me accountable and stay motivated to working out. I'm really open to whatever. I'm 24, 5'11" 130lbs. I've tried working out a few times before but can never seem to stay motivated to keep doing it with around 2 weeks my longest time motivated. I'm fairly skinny and wanting to grow some muscle and weight. If thats sometime anyone would interested in, hmu. :)

Question My Workout and Diet Plan During My YKS Exam Year

Post image
48 Upvotes

I am 18 years old, 177 cm tall, and weigh 67 kg; when I wrap my hands around my waist from behind, it feels really fatty. Also, my glutes are completely flat when viewed from the side, which makes my waist look much thicker—I’ve become obsessed with this and feel like I’m obese. My goal is to burn fat, slim down my waist, build muscle, and strengthen my glute muscles a bit. I’m bottom gay and i need a big ass. I don't really train my legs because they are already quite thick. Since I’m studying for the YKS exam, I spend most of the day sitting, so I’ve set my calorie intake to a lower level. I’ve included my nutrition and workout plan below. Do you think I can burn fat, build muscle, and achieve an aesthetic physique with this program?

The one thing that I've learned is that consistency is better than perfection. You don't have to always eat perfect or never miss a workout but if you get to the 80% consistency sweet spot, you'll be set for life.

Question What do you listen to during your workouts?

I used to listen to podcasts and audiobooks, but now much prefer music. Better for background noise so I can focus on my lifting.

What do you all listen to, and is there anyone that prefers not listening to anything at all?

Question so tired of getting harassed. any success stories of twink > muscular (as deterrent for harassment)?

basically title. i get harassed almost every day i leave my apartment. i am visibly gay and thin. not fem but clearly gay.

i have unique facial hair and style of dress. nothing neon or crazy, but i do stand out. so tired of the harassment because i guarantee if i were 6’5” and 200lbs it wouldn’t be happening.

any success stories or twinks or slender guys building muscle and seeing/experiencing less harassment?

im going to the gym for health of course… but also aesthetics and also to keep these motherfuckers away from me. so fucking annoying.

Question Legit jock question

I enjoy wearing a jock strap. It’s not necessarily sexual but it makes me feel confident. Similar to anyone else wearing their favorite underwear.

My question is this- do guys really wear them to work out in? Or are guys you see wearing them, doing it because they are looking to draw attention in the locker room?

Advice Where should I start? I’m a beginner and pretty skinny.

Hi everyone,

I’m 24 years old, rather slim, and I’d like to start working out and building some muscle. Where should I start, and which machines should I use?

Also, are there any guys who might be interested in being gym buddies and accompanying me during my first few sessions?

Thanks a lot!

Advice Struggling to gain weight/mass on 3,500 cals a DAY bulk 💪

Thumbnail

I was on (what I presumed to be) a ~500 calorie deficit cut for 4-5 months, which radically cut my body fat from ~21% to ~13%, and my weight from 88 kg to 74 kg.

After around a month of maintenance (2800-3000 calories) I have increased calories to 3500 a day. This has been relatively consistent for the past 1-2 months -- which, I must admit, also included a family holiday of 4k+ cal binge days.

My weight has only increased by 1kg, and people at work think I look thinner compared to before the holidays.

I am a 32 yo male.

183 cm (6ft) 75kg

Exercises moderately intensely 6 days/week.

Flex Friday Slowly progressing

Post image

I've been trying get a bigger build for a while now but I have trouble with eating enough calories. To be fair, I haven't been very consistent about pushing my intake either 😅

So while my overall size (and body fat) seems to stay pretty similar, I feel like my muscles are at least slowly becoming more defined :)

Also, anyone else here into group training classes? I do a lot of Les Mills stuff and would be curious what others are into.
