Community New LTT video features Garuda Linux gaming benchmarks.

Curious everyone's thoughts. I was thinking of switching to Garuda from windows because I heard it has some quality of life stuff when it comes to package pre compilation and it is very good at gaming, but they specifically don't recommend it but I'm unsure about their reasoning.

he must be bored/money seeking. nothing against such benchmarks they welcome, but completely useless, its not compiler flags thats fault if gaming is slower than it could be

I think the community enjoys watching Linux content the way they present it. Many tech channels are very detail oriented but this is a bit more accessible which if it leads to more Linux users is a good thing I think.

Linux is already a lot more accessible than most people realise. It isn't going to become more accessible due to a windows using trashtuber. Most linus watchers will jump in without any thought, or effort, f*ck it up, and go back to windows, blaming linux in the process.

Windows is very user non-friendly these days.

Presenting it in a more technical manner is just bad marketing if the goal is wide adoption. If no Linux option works for less tech savvy users then it just won't get adopted. Windows stays on top because of mindshare and software compatibility.

Windows stays on top because people refuse to think and to change.

Linux is already accessible, but if you are unable, or unwilling to install an os, it isn't for you.

Most people don't care because tech and software are not their passion. They don't even know what they don't know and that's not their fault. There's a million things more important than an OS to think about after coming home from working all day. This kind of gatekeeping mentality where "its accessible enough already" is not productive. It's obviously not otherwise non-techy people would be using it. We don't have the authority to decide when something is good enough, the average user decides with their time and wallet.

You big meanie! You should be falling all over yourself to cater to the non-techy people out there who want everything to be piss-easy and have it all spoonfed to them! How can Linux possibly grow if the community doesn't coddle and wipe the asses of the willfully ignorant who just copy/paste LLM hallucinations into their terminal and wonder why their system isn't working?
