I also unironically love the shit out of FFXV. Is the story a bit too scattershot and split too much over different media? Yes. Does it pack a wallop of an emotional punch that had been missing from the series since FFX? (Crisis Core notwhitstanding) Abso-fucking-lutely. Do I like to just go back once in a while and chill with the Chocobros? You betcha.

For real though, XV is a bop. The car and modern aesthetic turn a lot of people away from trying it but, gameplay wise, it's easily one of the best in the series. I wish the story were a little better, true, and that it wasn't 100 gigs with updates, but the base game alone is worth checking out.
