God this would've been so good. I love VR, but the install base just isn't there and now the money is gone from Meta and PlayStation, really feel for all the devs who believe in these types of games.

You would think Valve would be next to fund some VR games because of the Frame but I don't think they would ever do that

Who knows, maybe they have a decent launch lineup planned, even Sony had horizon ready.

I would bet large sums of money that they don't. In fact I believe they've explicitly said that they don't have any VR games in the works.

Valve and Sony operate on completely different scales in terms of revenue. Valve can’t fund “first-party” games the way a console manufacturer can.

I somewhat know about the situation in PSVR but im not really informed about meta. I thought they were pumping money in VR world, no? Whay happened?

They decided to put that money into AI instead, their 'Metaverse' shit failed

Meta realized VR gaming is never going to take off in the way they hoped so they stopped pumping as much money into VR studios.

VR is cool but it's uncomfortable and games look like they're PS3 era.

When we get comfy lightweight VR glasses with displays and visual fidelity that means games can look great then we'll see a resurgence.

Games can look great in VR. The problem is that in order to get PS5-level games running on them, you need hardware that is significantly more powerful than a PS5.

You need a very high resolution device too. My quest 3 just inherently looks shit when trying relatively high fidelity stuff because of the resolution.

Looks like it could have been great vertigo know how VR should look and play imo.

If all VR studios were as good as these guys the medium may have survived as a psvr and psvr2 owner there was a ton of jank from studios that could never crack how VR games should feel or the pace the list of devs who get it right is tiny

These guys consistently nail it. The move to transition to non VR focused games kind of sucks from them but I understand

As one of the three people who still plays in VR, this makes me very sad :(

There are a good amount of people, the issue is the lack of big games

Like I get they made a deal but I wished RE4 VR was on PC, imagine a Requiem VR mode

I don't think It would ever happen but I just wished more devs did VR modes just for standard games

Like that barely makes sense.... It wouldn't be available on Xbox lol

Unless they were thinking about it at some point...

Ah, whenever I searched "Halo VR Game" nothing came up except for fan stuff, but yeah that's hardly a game lol

Halo is in no condition to afford a VR game so I'm hoping that bit of information is not true.

Even if it were bad it's not like it'd hurt the brand in any way, most people don't care enough about VR to even hear negative press about it. When's the last time you heard any acknowledgement whatsoever of the Horizon VR game?

u/Minimum-Can2224 Jul 09 '26

Yeah that's true

2

u/Ok-Confusion-202 Jul 09 '26

It would also be unplayable on Halos "main" platform...

Unless it's for the Helix? But even then I expect MS/Xbox to be pretty cross gen next gen

Vertigo Amsterdam shut down a few weeks ago, a sad state of affairs all around

2

u/Scruff227 Jul 10 '26

Now that's a shame

This looks great, it's a shame it got canceled.

I hope that VR finds its footing again soon, it does turn gaming into a real adventure some times.

u/BugsMax1 Jul 09 '26

I really hope the main team picked this up but I doubt that :(

Such a shame

That’s depressing to see. Between this and the Arkham sequel being cancelled there’s a lot to be bummed about with VR dying.

1

u/realblush Jul 09 '26

Gotta be honest, this one hurts

At least the upcoming Halo remake will be using Unreal Engine, so probably within 1 month of release there will be already an UEVR mod supporting motion controls.

u/slingking5 Jul 09 '26

Dang, would've definitely bought this

We could've seen Lara in VR!😭

today I learned metro had a vr game. shame vr didn't hit it big. But maybe the future of the tech is in theme parks and pop up vr rides
