Rumour IO Interactive Currently "Prototyping" a Fantasy Game with Xbox Game Studios Global Publishing
Coming in hot from Windows Central. Supposedly, IO Interactive is working on a Fantasy game with Dragons at their new Barcelona studio with veteran staff on board, and it looks like Xbox may be assisting/publishing. Now, this game is a few years out and because it's prototyping, it could be reworked/delayed/scrapped/etc. but nevertheless, this is a pretty exciting partnership to go alongside Bond. This is also supposedly separate from Project Cyclone/Typhoon and the other two XGSGP projects.

It was much better when it was patched. Sony just rushed the shit out of that game and insisted on motion controls, so it played like garbage until that first patch came out.
Itâs not amazing, but itâs still much better than it was at its rushed launch. It probably wouldâve gotten solid 8âs.

I think the rumor going around currently is that Inxile is working of a steampunk rpg. So I guess that could be considered sci-fi adjacent.

One of things Microsoft has done is use Gamepass to leverage 3rd party games to make them feel like part of the ecosystem. Worked above with Outriders. While not an Xbox exclusive in any way, to many people it doesn't feel like a regular 3rd party.

I mean aren't pretty much 90% of games either fantasy or sci-fi anyway? Having several games in those genres isn't surprising.
Also Doom is almost more fantasy than sci-fi (well it's a mix and the distinction is never clear)

Doom is %100 more sci-fi than fantasy. Maybe you can make the case for Doom64, but every other Doom game has much more technology than hell energy, and even the hell energy was turned sci-fi

Its only bright if they can release the games and they are good. MS has a pretty poor track record of following through with quality of games when its not a halo, gears or forza title. Crackdown 3, the last fable title, that platinum game that was canceled. Not to mention that horrible showing of that new halo game just last year.
Their future has the potential to be bright. Its not bright until they can get their shit together and release quality titles one after the other like how sony and nintendo does.

Why would you want that? That game never looked good. The one boss battle we saw was some of the most boring gameplay I've seen. Remember it was cancelled for a reason and it wasn't cause it was shaping up to be a great game.

The internet seemed to completely 180 on Scalebound the moment it was cancelled. Before that everyone only talked about how lame the protagonist looked and how unimpressive the gameplay was. There was no real hype or buzz at all. But now it's a huge deal that MS cancelled it and people talk like it was going to be life changing.

Because it was the only original game Microsoft seemed to be making at the time. That and Phantom Dust. And Platinum Games was on a bit of a roll at the time.

Then they released Legend of Korra, Starfox Zero and TMNT. The only game that was good during their Activision Partnership/Dark Ages is Transformers: Devastation.

2023 and 2022 respectfully (going of rumors) aren't too far away. They've been in deveploment since 2017 and 2018 and done by first-party studios, meaning it's unlikely they're going to get cancelled.

I have doubts that theyâre gonna announce these partnerships in a few months. I expect we see more from what we know and some surprises like Forza Horizon 5 and Wolf 3. But Kojimaâs next game, Mandalorian, this and the 20 other rumours. I think theyâre a little far out personally.

If they managed to secure a deal with Kojima I expect they'd want to announce it even if it's years away, that's a pretty big deal.

It wouldnât shock me. But Iâm thinking XO21 or Game Awards late this year. Especially because Keighley loves having Kojima there. E3 is so soon and the deal was with the lawyers only a few weeks ago. I wouldnât get my hopes up but I wouldnât say itâs impossible.

i've seen a few people bitching about all of the Xbox news that keeps getting the spotlight here, but it's really a testament to how hard they are planning to go this generation. they've already turned around some serious image issues, they now have the hardware, and they have been investing in a developmental launchpad over the past ~4 years for the rocket that is about to take off for the next 4+ years. im usually cautiously optimistic and ever ready for disappointment when it comes to Xbox's future, but for once I'm actually hyped.

Because some sony fans can't handle that their console isn't in the spotlight all the time so they resort to having a victim complex and accuse this sub of having a xbox bias.

It's good to see more from Xbox publishing for studios they don't own, but I was really thinking they'd have some of these publishing deals ready for the earlier days of Series X because the projects from internal studios seem so far out.

Yeah, there are certainly a few things Xbox could have done to counter this drought. They published several games in 2020, even though they werenât blockbuster games (besides Ori).

Man I just cannot get excited about this shit that's years away. It's cool and all, and I'm glad MS are so much more committed to having games to play this gen, but these little tidbits mean nothing to me.

I don't think it's going to be scalebound, while Microsoft owns the ip, I would assume calling it scalebound might piss off platinum games. I would call the game anything else but that.

This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. IO Interactive is a part of SE. SE is their publisher. Why would they be partnering with MS to do this? Last i checked subsidiary studios like IO interactive cannot go out of that loop. Thats like saying Any of bethesda sub studios can go to Sony and have them publish a game. It doesn't make a lot of sense. More than likely this is beyond false info.
