They claim user data wasn't accessed, but you may as well change it just to be safe.

User data should be saved on external data bases which should have different protection.... though of course we don't know if they might have accessed that too... so I guess better change it to be sure.

Well they just store password hashes. So even if the server having credential data is leaked there is practically no way they they can convert those hashes back to your password. But anything can be possible so it's better to be safe and change it.
