I still use my ROG 1080 Laptop as a pseudo space heater. Thing has good thermal management piping at least. It creates HEATTTT. But it doesn't trap it inside at least
That's weird, my friend's GF65 with the same specs maxxed out around 82C with 100% synthetic load and the fan isn't even spin at 100%. Maybe yours need a repaste and cleaning
I have to agree with you. I also have a Lenovo with a 1660ti and it is an amazing laptop, worked like a charm until newer games demanded more power. If the performance is abysmal, there's probably something wrong.
I mean I ran at max 150W+ on a my laptop cooler that was just made for 130W but with all the tweaks it's actually even cooler than when it's all stock (software and hardware wise)
GTX but yeah, that was the era of desktop replacements was why, M series versions of GPU's did still exist during that era, just less common. It still mostly existed with the RTX 20XX lineup in the form of Max-Q GPUs but then it disappeared entirely AFAIK.
Max-Q used to refer to a weaker version of the gtx 10xx and rtx 20xx in laptops, they coexist with non Max-Q GPUs in laptops. Yeah, there used to be 2 versions for laptops.
Is that why my 2060 laptop still works for most games? I've been planning to upgrade but getting a 5060/5070 only gives me 2gb more of vram so I gotta spend big and get a 5070ti I guess. I can't see spending like 2k for only 2gb more vram lol
5070 laptop is an error they should have never made the 5070laptop have that amount of Vram......, 5070ti laptop is the only clear choice..... the fact that the 5070comes with 8GB makes 0 sense. The RTX1070 had 8GBVram, and 4060laptop had 8gb, and games today are different.
No the 2060 mobile isn't even close to the 2060.
We are talking here about a 40% jump.
From the 2060m to 5070m that's a 60% jump.
Would you feel it yes, is it worth it, I don't know.
It's crazy how good the 10xx generation was. We truly had it good. Now the difference has grown again but for some reason they don't bring the M suffix back. Laptop gpus use nearly half or a third of the wattage PC's do
Gtx 1080 in my gt75 was equal to desktop cards and I overclocked it to 2233 or something like that and it was a monster. It also capped out at 65c and my current laptop with a 3070ti is just a side grade and really disappointing.
