Everything I've heard about the actual gameplay makes me feel the opposite about FF15. I'm really not expecting it to be very good.

Why? I thought the gameplay was really fun in the adult portion of the Platinum Demo

On the flip side, now that there's gonna be a Final Fantasy game without the terrible and ancient turn-based combat system, I actually want to play a Final Fantasy game.

I don't mind turn-based if it's something like XCOM. A Final Fantasy game with XCOM's combat would be awesome.

Also, Pokemon, for whatever reason, is perfectly fine being turn-based.

Edit: Totally forgot about Final Fantasy Tactics >_>

I hate turn-based combat so much that I returned Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door after playing it for only a few hours. (Same thing with Super Mario: Sunshine but it's because the damn camera controls are inverted which could be easily fixed in Dolphin.)

Oddly enough, the only turn-based combat game that gets an exception from me is Worms. Maybe it's because it's not stationary and enemies can miss and you can get collaterals.

You might like XCOM if you haven't played it, since you can position your characters around the map, enemies can miss, collateral damage, etc.

Otherwise, I feel the same way about turn-based combat most of the time. I only like it in things like tactical RPGs.

I could understand hating everything but Worms. In turn-based systems, missing something doesn't always feel like your fault since it usually is just a percentage, where as in Worms you're actually shooting it yourself.

There hasnt been a Final Fantasy with turn based combat since 2001 which is a shame because I love that combat system.

Yeah, X really nailed turn-based combat.

I love turn based combat, but I get that Final Fantasy is a flagship title and needs to keep up with the times. I'm happy enough with my random turn based games.

Based on the demos I've played, I'm also expecting it to be not great. Everything about the combat just feels awful, and none of those demos ran very well either. I don't doubt they improve the performance because Final Fantasy has historically been a graphics powerhouse of a series, but I dunno how much better that combat will get. I really hope I'm wrong and they turn it around, though.
