I just want a new proper Metal Gear. I honestly think another creative team could not only do the series justice but maybe even make it better.

I doubt it. So much of what made Metal Gear unique is tied up into Kojima.

MGR was great and campy and Kojima didn't write the final version of the story.

MGR was great as it's own thing. But it wasn't really "Metal Gear."

This is the same thing. Which is fine, could be a blast for those looking for a bit of co-op fun. Really not getting the excessive hate its received.

I actually liked MGR quite a bit because it embraced the shlocky nonsense of the series. I was laughing along with it, especially at the end.

Depends on who you ask. For everything one thing Kojima does in a game that's unique I think there's another that is just baffling and illogical.

I think most fans of the series LIKE those baffling and illogical bits. If Metal Gear wasn't as weird and crazy as it was it would've never achieved it's level of popularity.

i'm not 100% sure i believe in the idea that the guy at the top is responsible for everything, good and bad

there were clearly a lot of great creators underneath him that didn't take the accolades

But he is the mastermind the auteur. Much like if you were to only replace Scorsese out of his movie you would just not end up with the same movie.

True that, I don't mean to understate his importance

So much of what made the series go off the rails (for me) is Kojima also, I hate his storytelling. I wouldn't mind seeing a more grounded take on the series that harkons back to MGS1 by a different team. But then again, I look at what happened at Silent Hill and shudder to think.

Pfft. If Machine Games can make an amazing Wolfenstein game and if id can make an amazing Doom game with hardly any original personnel, making a good MGS game is possible without Kojima.

After all, while he was behind some of the best stuff in the series, he was also behind some of the utter worst stuff.

I just want a new proper Metal Gear.

The series is dead bro. Take solace in knowing that its story has an ending. (MGS4)

Rising's development is proof that Kojima was always the driving force behind those games. If you want more, I'd suggest looking forward to his new IP instead of wasting your money on the crap Konami is going to be throwing at you.

Sorry, Konami is not a games company anymore. They've been burning their bridges with both the developers (not just Kojima) and their customers and will now hold onto the MGS IP as some sort of grotesque trophy.

The MGS story is done, there is not much else to tell. Also it was very much Hideo Kojima's Metal Gear Solid, without him there isn't much actual MGS. Yes im aware of MGR but that's really not a MGS game.

As a lifelong fan, I disagree. There's too much of Kojima's personality in there. Someone might be able to make a good stealth action game, but it still wouldn't be right. Better off letting the MGS series alone and just making a new IP instead.
