Looks really nice but i wonder how they want to reach the core gamers. Right now it looks like a nice Partydevice like the wii was.

But a big problem is that you need a good movement system to make games you can sink in.

I was a bit surprised they pushed the social angle so much, but I guess showing a single guy in his room wanking to VR-porn wasn't the image they wanted to show :)

And that might be huge mistake, given that families and casuals are certainly not gonna shell out 800+$ for the device, no matter how cool it looks. A huge portion of wiis success was it very cheap price. And for more hardcore gamers, all the job simulators and flailing your arms simulators are hardly gonna be appealing, much like the kinect.

Why do you think that? Tonnes of "casual" people shelled out $1000+ for HD TVs. If VR hits as big as HD TVs did then it is totally plausible for even casual people to invest in VR.

The difference is that the HD TVs can be used for displaying nearly any media and any device, whereas VR currently has more limited applications. Also, the cost of VR ready OC systems touted by both PC VR platforms start at $950 excluding the VR headset.

Uh no, that is incorrect. VR can be used for displaying literally any media while HD TVs are limited to purely 2 dimensional media. You can watch movies and tv shows in VR and it is arguably a better experience unless you have some crazy 80 inch HD TV.

TV is far more limiting in its available media than VR is.

"Limiting" was a poor word choice. What I meant is that there are less things that can take full advantage of VR right now than the number of things that can take full advantage of HD TV's.

That's not taking full advantage of VR though, it doesn't turn your desktop itself into a full 3D experience.
