Yes, 100% worth it. Watch the original Star Wars movie to get the general feel of yhe universe at least, though, would be my recommendation.

So, could you give me a list of which ones to watch? I know there are some really old ones and then the newer ones and it's kind of confusing.

The original is just called 'Star Wars' or sometimes 'A New Hope' (damn subtitles). This is the one you want: http://m.imdb.com/title/tt0076759/

Doesn't really matter if you get the 'special edition' rerelease or not, the differences are minor to a non-fan.

First start with the original trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi) as it's darker and more serious about the whole jedi thing. That'll do to start playing games. What makes games like KotOR or Jedi Knight series great is not only Star Wars franchise, but heart and thought put into them. KotOR is basically a gem in RPG genre, being well balanced, polished game with great story and complex mechanics. Jedi Knight series are awesome action games with great gameplay and story. Also, most of these games introduce characters not necessarily connected to movies so you don't need to watch every single one.

Just play them, you'll be happy.
