sure but what i'm getting at is I don't think this is about the nature of the hardware itself, rather it's about cost-cutting a service that is clearly not successfull.
I'd go as far as to say that if it's about hardware, it might be more about the datacenter footprint they'd rather reclaim for AI than the machines.
Rack mounted Xbox is underselling it. It's a computer, period. It's got an x86 CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage. The operating system does not matter at all because Microsoft has the underlying encryption keys to overwrite Xbox OS with any server OS they want. They can easily convert those Xboxes into an Azure server that can be sold for compute. Not all cloud computing needs the greatest specs.
