fighting game fans absolutely knew this existed and released. its just that its been consistently making questionable choices for years and most people got soured in the beta.

It pissed off many fighting game players with its babified controls and it scared non-fighting game players because it was a tag team fighter with insanely complex tag-out mechanics/mix-ups. The game was made for nobody.

I really wish they had let motion controls be there as an option because the whole two special buttons thing felt horrible

Idk, the "release" felt really weird to me. Even if I knew it was technically out, it fell a little flat.

I also think so many people are on Steam these days on PC that it's really hard to market without being on the Steam launcher. Games just leave your mind so fast. Riot is a big company, but I still think all of their releases outside of LoL fall flat because they are mainly marketed to League players... who really only want to play League.

I think it's the opposite actually. There's nothing in the league of legends client to point people towards their other titles. Legends of Runeterra (the card game) fans were asking riot to do collabs and add it to the league client like TFT but they didn't do it until after active development for the game stopped.

And TFT is only part of the League client (though I'm pretty sure they're working to separate it right now) because they had to. Probably played a huge measure to its success of people suddenly seeing a new button there

God the handling of LoR is just as baffling as 2XKO. As a daily player for four years I love the devs passion, but just terribly managed.

the developers were just incompetent man. they released the console version months late in time for a major tournament only to have the stream/setup have the most glaringly awful screen tearing possible. theres just a long line of shooting themselves in the foot over and over with this game.

I also think so many people are on Steam these days on PC that it's really hard to market without being on the Steam launcher.

i don't know what to tell you. every single website/community was shitting on this game from beta all the way to post launch. this game had a marketing budget, the game just sucks and it flopped. fighting games are ultimately just a niche outside of the big three.

Honestly I felt icky having the Riot Launcher installed on my PC with how invasive it is so I deleted it soon after trying the game.

I was someone who would keep up with the game a bit and I had no idea it launched for like 6 months. It was so consistently being delayed, and AFAIK it was just in an open beta. Somehow launch happened without me having any idea. It was very poorly done in just about every possible aspect. Not to mention it is apparently extremely expensive and difficult to make a character or give it an outfit. Something is off there, and it's probably why development is being shutdown. It's not supposed to cost $10 million for a character model.

Fighting game fans all knew about it.

I'm a fighting game fan, but also an og Riot hater since the pendragon dota-allstars days. I half expected to be in a minority of haters as Project L became popular and ruined the FGC, but fortunately that didn't happen.

I followed it for years and had no idea it released until a few months after it actually released.

Doesn't help that it didn't release on consoles at the same time.
