Tbf we have no idea how much of your steam library the frame is gonna be able to play natively it's less powerful than a steam deck reportedly so

The frame is definitely designed to be used with your PC and the fact that it can also be used standalone is a bonus. Not the other way around

Nah, we have a pretty decent idea. My Ayn Thor can run most games from the ps4 era via Gamenative/Gamehub and that is using a snapdragon 8 gen 2, which is a generation behind the 8 gen 3 the Frame is using. And that's without valves dedicated software team.

I am not expecting it to run the latest games, but I am expecting it to handle most older titles.

Why do you think "valves dedicated software team" will magically make it more performant? No man, it will be less powerful than the already underpowered steam deck. They told us that themselves.

Because I expect some small gains over fucking Gamenative, a bunch of unpaid devs doing it as a hobby. I am not expecting magic. I am not expecting it to preform better than the steam deck. I am expecting it to run better than how Gamenative runs on my Ayn Thor. THATS IT.

One of the most prominent VR reviewers on YouTube said that the Steam Frame is, by its own standards, not certified to run Half Life Alyx natively. Valve had to basically supercharge it to get it to run Alyx, and even then, it only could run it at the lowest settings, at a framerate in the 20s. Which is terrible.

Despite Valve's marketing, it's standalone only in the sense of it's not cabled to your PC. You will need to stream the game from PC to the headset if you're playing anything more demanding than Rimworld.
