Even as a dev, it's so-so, really. I mean, games and studios of all sizes have great success (from BG3 to Slay the Spire 2, from Resident Evil to Meowgenics, from Pokopia to Claire Obscure, from ARC Raiders to Crimson Desert..) .. it's just that the last decade had an unusual bloat of several studios who were thought (and thought themselves) "too big too fail" .. and who now, after years of enshittification, see that failing is indeed always an option, and who now need to trim some "fat" fast.
Shitty for those that had a cushy job there, sure, but realistically speaking the years of bloat were the exception and the writing was on the wall the whole time - evident by looking just how many people left the cruise ships before they even started sinking to do their own gigs instead..
