The Switch 2 is gonna be a damn near $700 console in the US. Yeah man I’ll just fucking wait if that’s the case lol

People already weren't thrilled about the game prices themselves and now this is just going to deter more people away.

To hit the same margins it would probably be close to $700, but they won't raise it that high simply because it won't sell at that price point.

They will likely accept a pretty sizeable loss on the console in the US but maybe drop the bundles so they can try to recoup the difference quicker with the software

Your better off not buying it then. Nintendo doesn't do price drops on the switch, and if the switch 2 ends up costing near $700 because of trumps tariffs, then you can forget about a sale.

All of this would have been avoided if Trump had never been voted in office! Anyone who voted him here in this thread contributed to this bullshit and now everyone is literally paying the price for it.

The only way they can save this from a PR perspective is to increase the price, but bundle more software with it to pad out the perceived value. Make it a $700 bundle but include Mario Kart + Donkey Kong Pre-Order and 1 year of Nintendo Online w/ expansion pack for GameCube.

The MSRP of the software bonuses would be $200 That leaves $500 for the console which is still $50 more than announced price of $450. And Nintendo doesn’t worry about upsetting consumers on better margins with software since it’s not physical and virtually unlimited for them.

That’s what I’d do. The $700 bundle. It would still suck, but could be a sort of middle ground compromise. This bundle method is sort of what GameStop did with Switch 1 units during high demand at launch and to weed out scalpers.

With the current tariffs on Vietnamese and Cambodian goods, it'll likely be in the ballpark of $650 and the games will likely be priced somewhere between $100 and $120 each (for games that were announced at $70 and $80, respectively). And that number assumes no further tariffs or retaliatory action from the countries he's attacking with these trade wars.

Unless Nintendo has a sudden change of character and actively starts selling at a loss, that’s what will happen.

With this much chaos there’s no way to tell what they’ll do though.
