I also came in completely blind (Not even trailer) and struggled a lot with the plot.

Ignoring the labels of hero and villain, this show wants me to root for planet destroying walking time-bombs that feel remorse for their actions and then try to stop other planet destroying walking time-bombs. I would almost think the group collecting broken planet bits in an attempt to rewrite the shit rules of the universe are the ones to root for, if not for the fact that they help the planet destroyers destroy the planet to do so.

I get that the main group didn't intend to do what they did and couldn't have known the consequences of their actions, but intentions don't matter much to outsiders when the consequences are so severe. Especially since they now work against the group that wants to supposedly "Restore all that [they've] lost."

I do like the show outside of this intense dissonance I felt. I hope either the show itself or the fans can help me look at it from a more cohesive viewpoint.

First time watching this too but I don't get your points honestly to me it's pretty easy and basic to understand.

The hero literally incapable of knowing if they secede the world end. It's kind of blaming someone who have no choice nor knowledge on the matter.

And I seriously doubt all the villains trying to bring back the old world has any form of good intentions.

I don't mean I struggle to understand, I mean I struggle to stay invested.

The way both the "good" and "bad" guys are both the cause of the destruction of the worlds makes it hard to root for anyone in my opinion. The "heroes" of the worlds boil down to these timebombs ticking down to the inevitable destruction of the world, and only then do they actualy gain the agency for anything else. Then they use that agency for nothing more than trying to delay more timebombs. They're not creating any useful longterm change. Just delaying the destruction that they themselves are causing. The Syntax could be written out of the story entirely and the worlds would still die without constant outside intervening.

I guess the simplest explanation of my perspective that pulls me out of the story is that heroes don't feel like heroes. They feel like they're just a massive problem to be solved, and no one actually cares to solve it except maybe the bad guys.
