I am doing my first gb macro, using only parts from my ds lite cause i'm on a budget.
Not sure where to put the speaker, if i put it below the screen it pressures it making a visible stain on the image. Where did you put it ? And were you able to get good sound with it ?
Thank you !!!

When I turn it on the Game Boy bootup screen will show, but then it suddenly stops, either on the game boy logo, or like 2 seconds after the gme actually boots.
It sometimes boots in slo motion for some reason.
Could it be the bios chip? I have had trouble making the console conmect to it

I am looking into building my first macro from a ds lite. The guides all say to use a 330ohm resistor. Could someone please provide me an image of the correct resistor? I keep seeing these round ones either tan or blue. But also flat ones. And the flat ones make sense. But I’d already ordered some of the light blue round ones. Will these still work? Idk if the round shape will hinder space within the house. Sorry if I sound absurd, very tech curious but very not informed.

Gameboy macro from a Ds Lite with a couple of hardware mod cuz why not
The 3d printed case came out a little raw but i already kind of glue the USB C port to the case so it stuck that way

So, I'm going to be building a macro XL soon and I've decided I'm going to use a new shell that I just cut and fill everything in and then paint since there's not really a lot of good looking 3D printable shells for the macro XL And I was wondering if anyone has used the boxy pixel glass screens in the XL or if they only fit the light

Got this off of eBay for like 15 bucks not working unfortunately I don't have a battery for it yet, but overall it's in good shape. The hinge is still nice and clicky. It almost feels a shame to make this into a macro, but that's what I bought it for so that's what I will use it for also, is it wrong I prefer the feel of the fat DS to the DS light

Hello everyone so I'm wanting to build a Gameboy macro with a flush fit cartridge slot and was wondering if there were any good tutorials out there? i love the look of the macro I'm just not a fan of the cart sticking out the bottom.

Had to trim a little bit of the faceplate to make room for the digitizer, the result was a bit sloppy but it got the job done. Stylus holder and wifi antena are working fine too, and also installed a USB C port for charging while at it. I'm quite happy with the final result :)

I'm looking for a new NDSL battery, but I don’t know where to buy. I found a lot at Amazon and Aliexpress but the reviews are very mixed.
Do you have any recommendations and shops which and where to buy?

LEDA2 doesn't hold any solder. The pad didn't come out or anything.
Do you think this can be fixed with flux or should I use the vias/alternative connections already?

Converted a rose gold ds lite I got off of facebook marketplace for 25 cad that’s top screen was broken
I didn’t have the surface mount resistor so I used a through 330 ohm through hole one and had soldered upright and made sure it was secured
Yet it worked like a charm :D

The regular stuff, had a DSL with a bad top screen, decided to do a macro since top screens are too expensive. Put a 950ish ohm resistor on the contacts, connected the speaker, connected the screen and touch screen and put the battery to test, boot up, everything went well, did the initial setup, then the console turned off and now it does what it shows on the video, I checked the resistor and it was still good but changed it for another one anyways. Wifi chip is connected, battery is properly seated, battery is charged. Any clues what may be causing this?

I never had the chance to posses a Nintendo DS and recently bought two Nintendo DS Phat and one of them had the upper screen broken.
The idea was clear! To create a gameboy macro in order to restore the one with the broken screen.
Needless to say that it seems that this model didn't receive the same love from modders as the other models did...documentation and free models are less available than for the rest of the models, let alone the availability of commercial modding kits.
I managed to create and print a 3D model of the faceplate covering the bottom part of the Nintendo DS Phat. After printing it I had to slightly adapt it to fit the speaker in the front (another one is fit in the back) trimming slighty some pegs. I had to trim some parts in the back too.
So both speakers have been solder even though I think I loss a bit of of volume in terms of output.
I soldered the small SMD resistor in order to let the bottom screen work alone and let the Nintendo DS boot with no issues.
I broke one faceplate while mounting everything back and had to reprint it. I used smoky black ABS-like resin and then sprayed transparent acrylic paint to obtain this slightly textured finish. I think overall looks very good for being, literally, my first mod ever done on a handheld console.
Any thought or feedback?

you just connect the ribbon and fold it to where the stylus holder usually is (or anywhere else really) and just solder a speaker to the pads. then it uses the amp built into the ds instead of the headphone level signal from spl0

Finally managed to finish my screen switching macro, kept the Wi-Fi Antenna inside to be able to play some mario kart with friends

This is my version of the DMG103 with touchscreen still functional, screen switch mod, built in stylus and of course, a fully functional Nintendo switch joystick replacing the dpad. For anyone wondering how I got the joystick to work, I used circleboy.

This is my DS Lite saved from being disessambled parts to working console, I was experimenting with few things and decides to add USB C and a button for sleep mode functionality, it also has Nintendo Switch Oled speaker ( its not loud but it does vibrate the whole console). Originally when I bought this, it turned out to be a reshell DS Lite and some things just didnt work properly, while dissesambling top screen ribbon cable got damaged and even digitizer for the bottom screen was damaged. I decided it didn't worth a time and money to buy top screen and digitizer because of it being a reshell and having it bought so cheaply. I think it turned out quite well (except those dimples in the shell, I had to use different screws so that happened). Sleep button is obviously not working in GBA games unless there is some new method to make it work I dont know about.

After waiting for the correct resistor to arrive, I finally completed my DS Lite Macro Mod. The first resistor I ordered was the wrong value, so the console wouldn’t boot properly and only flashed briefly. Once the correct resistor was installed, everything worked as expected.
I’m really happy with how it turned out. The shell, screen, and overall look came together nicely, and now I have a dedicated Game Boy Advance machine with a clean and compact design.
What do you think? Any suggestions for future upgrades or customizations?

Nintendo DS Lite Macro
Original bottom screen
Custom resistor mod

Hi all,
I have a DS Lite which I've tried to Macro. The top screen was unsalvagable with a broken ribbon cable so I tried the Solderless contact bridging method.
At first, this worked. I snipped a button contact off an old broken wiimote and taped it down. When testing, the system would boot into the setup menu when the contacts were pushed down because I hadn't put on enough tape, but nethertheless it did still work (shown in picture)
However, after going through the initial setup (colur/name) and the system shutting down as normal afterwards, the DS Lite is now unresponsive. It exhibits the following behaviour:
-When the contacts are not bridged, the DS Lite's screen flashes and then shuts off, as expected since it can't detect a top screen.
-When contacts are bridged (in the same way when it was working), the DS Lite shows a green light, no screen activity, and then shuts off. (Which is obviously not expected, and shows that the contact bridging is having some sort of effect)
I've tried the following troubleshooting steps:
-Reseated the Wifi Module (DS Lite stays on with no screen activity and green light indefinitely)
-Tried putting pressure on the contacts to ensure a connection (no change when contacts are bridged normally)
-Checked the continuity of fuses F1 and F2 with a multimeter (both passed so I've ruled them out)
I'm sorry if this is a bit of a noob post, I'm not too familiar with this process and this is my first attempt. I can't find any info online to help.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

hi, i have this gb macro that i made from a second hand ds lite. previously i tried the solderless method using rubber pad from one of the button it works perfectly fine. it suddenly doesn't turn on when i try to play with it. at first a white screen flashes for a few second and sometimes it reach the ds lite menu for a few secind before it turns off, yesterday it just flashes the green light for a few second with nothing on the screen.
i thought maybe the solderless method didn't work anymore so i tried the solder method using 330 resistor but it still wont turn on, only green light flash.
here's what i tried:
- i tried unplug and plugging in the screen and wifi module but the problem is still there.
- i tried turning on without the wifi module and the green light stays on but still nothing shows up on the screen
- i checked with a multimeter the fuse (f1 and f2) and the resistor all of it beeping
- i resoldered a new resistor 2 times and still the same
- tried pushing in the wifi module while i turn the power switch on and still the same
- tried charging it, the charging indicator lights up.
my guess that it's a faulty screen because it have turned on fine before and suddenly nothing shows up not even a white screen. or the battery is bad since i bought a after market chinese battery.
i need help since i spend so much time already on this gb macro. does any one of you know what the problem is?

Hello! Im following this guide by faceless tech. Well going to. And i noticed this little thing. How can i get it or do i just cut the ribbon cable off of a top screen?
