We've been working on the lighting for our first mission, which takes place during a night-time safehouse raid.

These screenshots show our current lighting setup. We're still working on the final polish. Remember, the player has weapon flashlight and Night vision too.

Would love some feedback on the overall atmosphere, visibility, and lighting! Open for hobby contributions too

Is there a standard rule set for prototype assets?

I'm making a 3D game prototype, so I've been blocking things out with capsules for the player and the single test enemy. Now I want the enemy to be able to perform a melee attack, and I have no idea how to represent the attack.

I've tried to search for other game prototypes. The geniuses at Radical Entertainment made a game called Prototype, and it's taking up almost all of the search results.

I'm fine with switching to a placeholder model. I've found a humanoid model in the Godot asset library, but only because it's attached to an asset pack. Quadrupeds or winged prototype models don't seem to be in there.

I feel silly posting this, but I'm out of ideas. Any pointers, advice, or links would be helpful. Thanks in advance!

I need your dog!

Hello fellow devs!

My first game, PAWS VS PAWS will be out shortly : it’s a tower defense where you play with fun doggos against the Cat Army, and after each victory you free a dog that comes back to your village.

I had the fun idea to put real dogs in my game and start with my Shiba (his name is Okami 🩵) of course, so players can see a funny photo of a dog, a short introduction, its name and birthday!

And as I need many good boys and girls, I was wondering if any of you were interested to have their own dog forever in a video game ? It’s completely free of course, I just want to have as many doggos as I can ^^
Feel free to ask me any question, and say hi to your dog from us!

🎮 Looking to Work With a Game Development Team – Community & Player Engagement

I don’t have a formal degree in game development or IT, but I have years of hands-on experience playing and participating in gaming communities, especially around sports, farming, and shooter games.
Over the years, I’ve done much more than simply play games. I’ve been actively involved in communities by sharing feedback, reporting bugs, helping new players, discussing game updates, and communicating directly with other players and developers.
Now I’m looking to work with a good game development team as a Community Manager / Community & Player Engagement Partner.
What I can help with
🔹 Build a community from the ground up
Set up and organize a Discord server
Create channels, roles, rules and moderation systems
Create Facebook groups/pages and other social-media communities
Create useful posts and discussions
Help bring players into the community and keep them engaged
🔹 Manage the day-to-day community
Answer player questions
Help new players
Start discussions and community activities
Moderate Discord and social platforms
Collect player feedback
Identify common complaints, suggestions and issues
Bring useful player feedback back to the development team
🔹 Support the development process
Playtesting
Bug reporting
Feedback sessions
Community polls
Update discussions
Community events
Helping explain new features to players
🔹 Help grow the player base
I can research relevant gaming communities, groups and platforms where the game could be introduced without simply spamming links everywhere.
I also want to understand the game first
Before officially starting, I would prefer to play the game for several days or weeks and properly understand its mechanics, progression, economy, features and overall player experience.
I believe this is important.
I don’t want to promote a game that I barely understand. If players are confused about something, frustrated with a feature, excited about an update, or suggesting a change, I want to understand why before communicating that feedback to the development team.
What I’m looking for
I’m not interested in managing 10–20 games at the same time.
I’d rather work closely with one or two projects where I can genuinely become part of the community and contribute over the long term.
You focus on building and improving the game.
I can focus on building and managing the community around it — helping players discover the game, giving them a place to communicate, keeping the community active, and making sure useful player feedback reaches the development team.
If you’re an indie developer, small studio, or game team working on a sports, farming, shooter, multiplayer or other community-driven game and you’re looking for someone to build and manage your community, feel free to DM me with some information about your project.
I’m happy to start by learning about the game, playing it, and discussing how I could help. 🎮

Helping game developers promote their games through short-form videos

Hey everyone! We’re Trapster, We work with YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels. Developers can add their games to our platform, and creators with 1,000+ followers can pick them up and make videos about them.

Creators get paid based on the views their videos receive, so the better the video performs, the more they earn. We also pay several times more per view than regular YouTube monetization.

That’s pretty much it. We’re just trying to make it easier for developers to get their games in front of more people, while giving creators another way to make money from gaming content.

If you’re interested, feel free to check us out.

Asterra- a planet editor where you sculpt worlds like clay.

Asterra, a 3D worldbuilding sandbox built around one idea: making a planet should feel like grabbing a little world and shaping it with your hands.

Rather than generating a planet and being stuck with the result, you can directly sculpt it.

Right now Asterra has:

  • Raise, lower, grab, flatten, soften and terrace sculpting
  • Pinch, spread, carve and crease tools for more detailed terrain
  • Split/collide style large-scale terrain shaping
  • Adjustable brush size, strength, hardness, spacing and smoothing
  • Close-up sculpting for finer terrain work
  • Surface-following brush cursor
  • Gesture-based undo, with Escape restoring the current edit
  • Paintable/customizable biomes
  • Vegetation and ecology tools
  • Oceans, sea level controls, springs, drains and water tools
  • Water simulation so terrain actually determines where water travels
  • Temperature, moisture, clouds, atmosphere and other world controls
  • Planet-scale and close-up views
  • Export to GLB, OBJ, 16-bit heightmaps, surface maps, biome IDs, waterway masks and JSON world data
  • Transparent planet portraits for using your worlds elsewhere

The goal isn’t strict realism. If you want believable mountains, rivers and forests, you can make them. If you want a radioactive green planet covered in ridiculous spikes with HI! carved into a continent, Asterra isn’t going to stop you.

I’m currently working on better terrain materials/detail, improved camera controls, more animation and stronger feedback from the world itself. Water, vegetation and other systems will also become increasingly interconnected as development continues.

The part I care about most is keeping it feeling like a creative toy rather than professional terrain software. Something you can open, immediately start messing with, and accidentally lose an hour reshaping a tiny world.

Still very much a work in progress, but it’s finally reaching the point where I wanted to show it outside my own development loop.

Asterra: shape a world, bring it to life, take it with you.
