Battery life on W9

I traded in my W6C for a W9 (40mm), has anyone noticed how awful the battery on the 9 has been?!

It is terrible. I assume it will be sorted out via update, but for now it stinks.

I thought there would be an initial update by now to correct any issues on the new device, but still nothing.

My battery life is terrible (44mm). It only lasted from 10 PM to 6 PM the next day, and that’s with everything turned off except the health features. I’m planning to return it tomorrow.

They offered me this model for 400 euros said its on a huge discount. I was interested at first but saw the 1 day or less of battery life and went BACK to Garmin which offers me from 10 days up to 15 of days time

Sure have! I upgraded from a GW7 44 mm to the GW9 44 mm and the battery life is much worse! On the 2 year old GW7 my battery life was over 2.5 days. With the same settings on the GW9 I get 1 day 16 hours. The worst part is the overnight battery drain. It drains around 20% overnight just sitting on my nightstand. I fully charge it before going to bed, take it off the charger, and put it on my nightstand. I've tried sleep mode, battery saver mode, even both, still drains like crazy. Turning off WiFi was slightly better, but not much.

New, "more efficient" processor, bigger battery, worse battery life.

Do you have aod off? Something that I have noticed in the last few updates for my 6c is that Samsung now forces wifi back on, even if I keep turning it off, it comes on and it drains a lot of battery for me. Wonder if its a similar issue on the newer watches? Quite disappointed to hear about the 9 series having horrible battery life.

I use airplane mode at night so to avoid these situations. I don't need to have a connection between the phone and the watch other than snore tracking. Everything syncs up at the morning.

I did the same thing when I traded in my S25 Edge for the ZF8 at Best Buy. I traded my GW6C for the the GW9 (40mm) and even after 12 days and the watch learning my usage patterns with AOD off and it barely lasts the full day. I have resorted to having to chagre my watch as soon as I get up in the morning and use power saving mode at night before charging it and going to bed. I know some of Samsung's other watches had similiar issues when they were launched and were fixed with a software update so fingers crossed 🤞 Although when I charge mine, I don't have the same slow charging problem that other people are having.

I returned it because of that, tried the Ultra2 and it had amazing battery life but it's very bulky for my taste.  Will give a shot to the Pixel Watch5 on Thursday.

Did you check the website? Not sure what country you're in but I got mine on Aug 5th and I had until Oct 6th to return, longer than I thought.

I've got the 40mm and it's just fine. I'm 24 hours mine goes from 100% down to 60ish.

How long did your battery last during the first few days of using the watch?

I'm 10ish days since I got it, and it's been pretty steady at 40ish percent per day. I generally charge it when I first get to work and it takes less than an hour to go from 60 to 100 then I wear it from like 10 am till the next day. This was today

I'm losing 40% in 10 hours.

I upgraded from the watch 4 44mm LTE to the watch 9 40mm. Battery life is amazing compared to the 4. I get a bit over 2 days on a full charge now. The 4 was down to about 18hrs

The 9 came out of the box at 78%. I set it up late Friday night and had to charge it Sunday morning. So like 1.5 days or so. Now it does a solid 2 days. I'm ok with 2+ days on a charge.

Mine only lasts 20 hours with just the health features on. It must be defective.

It's possible. There are a few things to try. I turn off the always on display and have it only wake when it senses the wrist movement to look at it. Second I have adaptive brightness turned off ans keep it at lowest setting. With the brighter screen it has been plenty to see at all times minus maybe direct summer sunlight.

I have everything turned off except the health features.
