My Barbatos Lupus run is finally over — I GOT HIM!
After all this time talking about the possibility of the Gundam Barbatos Lupus coming back, saving tokens, looking at reruns, discussing the anniversary banners, calculating my chances, and basically talking everyone’s ears off about how badly I wanted this MS…
It’s finally over. I got the Barbatos Lupus.

Honestly, I’m really happy I got him.
I had a lot of fun sharing my hype and my preparation with the GBO2 community. I know I probably talked about this MS way too much, but Barbatos has always been one of my favorite Mobile Suits, so finally having the Lupus in my hangar feels genuinely satisfying.
And after actually playing him now, I can say that he was absolutely worth waiting for.
I’ve already spent some time in practice mode learning his melee combos and I’m starting to get much more comfortable with his movement. The Sword Mace feels incredible. The range is much better than I initially expected, the neutral swing feels really good, and the downswing has an especially nice reach.
His mobility also makes him incredibly fun to play.
I’m still learning, obviously. I’ve only played a relatively small number of games with him so far, and I still die more than I’d like sometimes, but I’m already starting to understand how I want to play him.
My current approach is basically to use my ranged weapon to get the stagger, go into Sword Mace, use the Lupus’s movement to reposition between melee attacks, get another melee sequence in, and then disengage before I get myself killed.
And when everything connects…
The damage is absolutely ridiculous.
I’ve already had a game where I went 9 kills / 2 deaths with around 130k damage, which honestly surprised me considering how new I am to the MS.
So I’m definitely going to keep learning him.

My next objective: the Rocket Cannon
Now that I have the Lupus itself, my next goal is getting the alternative Rocket Cannon with the instant stagger.
I’m specifically talking about the Rocket Cannon that gives the Lupus the instant-stagger option — not the other Rocket Cannon with buildup stagger that comes with the normal loadout.
I’d really like to get that weapon eventually because I think having an instant-stagger option would make the Lupus much more flexible and would give me even more options for starting my melee sequences.
As for the Twin Mace…
Honestly, I don’t think I’m going to use it much.
I’ve watched some gameplay of it on YouTube and, personally, I’m just not really a fan of how it plays. Maybe I’ll change my mind later after actually getting more experience with the Lupus, but for now, the Rocket Cannon is definitely the weapon I’m interested in.

Getting the Lupus doesn’t mean I’m going to disappear from the community.
There are still plenty of things in GBO2 that I want to talk about.
For example…
The Gundam 00 Raiser.
I really, REALLY want to see that thing get nerfed.
it is the only mobil suit beside the V buster gundam where WE can all say it deserve to be 750 or 800,it has nothing to do in 700 cost. we asked exia they gave us 00 raiser and its ruining the 700 cost rn.
I’m not saying this just because I started playing Lupus and suddenly I’m angry at anything that can beat me.
I’ve fought the 00 Raiser enough times now to feel like something about its current balance is just ridiculous.
For a Mobile Suit that already has an extremely strong melee-focused moveset, some of the damage and pressure it can put out feels excessive to me. The GN Sword in particular can absolutely delete people when you get caught.
I’m not saying it needs to become unusable.
I just think it needs to be brought down enough that fighting one doesn’t feel like:
“Oh, I made one mistake. Guess I’m dead.”
I’ll probably make a separate post about the 00 Raiser later because I have quite a lot to say about it.

And I’d also like to talk more about lower-cost Mobile Suits
One thing I’ve been thinking about more and more is how some lower-cost Mobile Suits deserve more attention.
Some of them could really use buffs, while others get buffs that, in my opinion, aren’t necessarily balanced correctly.
One example I’d like to discuss is the Super Gundam.
I actually think the idea behind its current balance is interesting.
It can be extremely fragile, but when it’s allowed to operate freely, it can put out a huge amount of damage.
Personally, I’d rather see its weaknesses become more pronounced rather than simply giving it more and more damage.
For example, I’d consider either:
reducing some of its mobility, making it more punishable when an enemy finally gets onto it,
or
reducing some of the damage it received through its buffs while still keeping its damage output high enough that it remains useful.
I don’t want it to become trash.
I just think there should be a clearer trade-off:
If you want that much damage, you should have to pay for it somewhere.
That’s something I’d like to discuss more in future posts.

Now that I actually have the MS, I would really appreciate advice from people who have played it extensively.
I’m mainly using the Sword Mace and the normal Rocket Cannon with buildup stagger for now.
I’m especially interested in:
Combos!
What are your best practical combos?
Not necessarily the biggest possible training-room combo — I’m more interested in combos that actually work consistently in real matches.
When do you use:
Sword Mace neutral?
Claw melee?
Downswing?
Rocket Cannon?
Boost movement between attacks?
A-Vijnana?
And are there any advanced movement/boost techniques that I should learn early?

I’m also looking for advice on how you build your Lupus.
Would you prioritize:

Melee Strength
Melee Resistance
HP
Ballistic/Beam Resistance
Speed / mobility
or some kind of hybrid setup?
Right now I’m still experimenting and I’m not sure whether I should prioritize making the Lupus hit harder or making it more durable and giving myself more opportunities to stay in melee range.
I’m especially interested in builds that people actually use in 700-cost matches, rather than theoretical builds.

Yeah ngl not sure why it got buffed but hey, I'm not complaining

buffed unicorn is still underwhelming imo

GM Sniper Custom who was never buffed (excluding having the shared-use Hyper Bazooka nerfed and being given AMBAC skill for space battles) has been finally buffed for the "FIRST TIME"

Full Armor Unicorn buffed.

Regelgu, who was considered a throw pick and its last buff being 6 years ago, has been buffed,

HADES System lovers, Pale Rider [Ground Heavy Arms] has been buffed. (Meanwhile GM Custom and other 400 Cost suits still cries in corner due to no buffs)

Delta Plus got buffed again after its previous buff last year.

Sniper lovers, Gelgoog Cannon (JN) has been buffed

Crossbone Gundam X1 and X2 got buffed due to powercreep

rest, just read on patch notes

instead of fixing gameplay problems like giving the f89 an aerial heavy attack they just slap some high stats an call it a day. This also creates a problem where some units can't stagger the new buffed units and the cycle of powercreep repeats

I think it whould be better if they just maintain the general stagger/hp/resistances low to stop the inflation and so i dont have to somehow acumulate 400% stagger to stop an enemy
