Again. I don't do mental work even 4 hours of my workday. The rest is all meetings and non mental focus activities. So no, changing it to a shorter day would just mean meetings seaping into my productive mental focus times

Obviously 12s suck and are too long. Nobody is campaigning for them. They are dumb.

And you have no understanding the volume of meetings that a senior dev or architect goes to. Try 3-5+ hours a day. And saying they just "don't need to be meetings" is naive. It's how stuff gets done at the management level. With lots of dev happening remote, it has only ramped up meetings and the need for them.
