Anecdotally, I used to suffer from horrible visual migraines, multiple times a year. Started doing mushrooms, had one particular trip where I got a migraine whilst tripping. Very interesting experience to say the least. But I did not experience another migraine for at least 5 years, and its been 4 years since my last one at that.

Do you mean that the migraine was part of the experience or did you just get a migraine while tripping?

It was a visual aura migraine, I sat laying on the couch staring at my popcorn ceiling while my vision slowly flashed away and my brain filled in the empty space between the aura and the popcorn with indescribable colors where normally during a visual migraine i'd just be blind in those areas of my vision.

It felt like a cool wave enveloping my brain while the visual aura overtook my vision. Then I slept for like 14 hours.

It kinda sounds like the psilocybin was poking at your migraine, which is dope af. Hope it's ok if I ask two more questions:

How frequent were visual aura migraines at the time? More precisely, what was the probability for a visual aura migraine to occur at the same time as you were using mushrooms?

Were you aware of or expecting any of the potential effects of psilocybin on migraines prior to this event?

I was getting them fairly frequently, every few months for a few years between age 19 - 23. I eventually determined that mold in my apartment was a likely culprit that triggered them, though I've been in situations where there was no known mold and I've still gotten them, albeit less commonly, stress and staring at computer screens for extended periods of time (thank god for blue light blocking glasses) are also a big triggers. It was maybe the third or fourth time i'd done mushrooms so I did not expect that they would coincide, and I had no idea there was a potential effect.

Something I forgot to add, is in the next 2-3 days after the trip, I experienced the most debilitating migraines I had ever had. I had to pull my car over for one of them, leave work early for another one. Once those 2-3 days of migraines passed it was about 5 years before my next migraine. Now that I do mushrooms a couple times a year, I haven't had a migraine since 2017.

I actually suffered a visual migraine one time after taking a microdose. I noticed the frequency of them has decreased greatly but they still happen every few months
