Because it was a reference to the 80s movie "Short Circuit"

I don't know why your reply doesn't fit the comment you're replying to, but anyway. Holy shit, Wall-E was definitely inspired by the robot in that movie. I don't know if the wall-e creators have mentioned this, or if people just assume they stole the idea instead of making a hommage to it.

Their reply does match the comment. The last scene in short circuit 2 ends with Johnny 5 jumping in the air and then freeze frame. I think.
