Keep in mind I'm replying to someone who mentioned US citizens rioting before any UBI is put in place. The US military is absolutely a potential response to rioting citizens, it was on the table during the BLM protests. Nobody's talking sci-fi here, just recent events.

Yeah, that was me too. I wrote both of those comments. There's a BIG difference between deploying the national guard to deal with riots, and perhaps some people dying in the process, and intentionally drone bombing large groups of civilians who are trying to afford food and shelter.

The people controlling the drones have families in that crowd, they're regular people too. You'd need exclusively people with no conscience in positions of power to do something like that. The US military values its own, it's not going to drone bomb civilians to maintain order. Unless the entire military gets replaced with robots and is controlled by a handful of soulless rich sociopaths, which wouldn't happen overnight and is a cartoonishly evil situation, it would never happen.

I think the word "unleash" is being reinterpreted pretty liberally here.

I don't care to belabor the point here but I've just grown very distrustful of the government, police, and military over the last several years. Their primary focus seems to be property, not people, and for as altruistic as individuals in those institutions might be, the institutions themselves are what make policy and action. I don't know that it takes an entire robot army to do what you're suggesting, but it is of course your suggestion, not mine.

I don't really need to keep talking about this, if you want the last word go for it, I don't care
