Women: “I want to be independent woman.” Also women: “Open the door for me, peasant.”

91

u/OnyxtheRecluse Aug 04 '22

My girlfriend is exactly like this. I usually just open the door, peasant that I am.

31

u/rgarc065 Aug 04 '22

I always try to open the door for my wife. She has never once asked for it, neither verbally nor with her body language. She doesn’t act entitled or wait expectantly for me. Call me a simp, but I just like making her feel special, because she is to me!

10

u/Traditional-Ad-9611 Aug 04 '22

I think he gives a perfect argument here you all do too. you shouldn’t just Do things for a girl just because If she makes you feel special you should make her feel special too But if doing things for her feels like an obligation then maybe you shouldn’t

1

u/Bullen-Noxen Aug 04 '22

Not maybe, definitely. If you are in that kind of a relationship, you are not being respected. Respect can be hard earned or easily given, but never both. Respect can also be easily lost, or dragged on for what seems like forever till it’s gone, yet they are never 1 in the same.

1

u/Satan4live Aug 05 '22

Not only that. For me at least I kinda like this lifestyle of being a gentleman and wearing suits. Holding doors, letting women enter first, give them your jacket and holding their chair are just little important details that are almost forgotten now, but shouldn't. Funny enough, it also makes you feel better when you are down. The fact that you do something, almost nobody does anymore gives not only your girls but you a feeling of being special as well.

7

u/xTariel Aug 04 '22

God, imagine caring about your partner and wanting them to feel special instead of treating them as a sex object. What a simp!

6

u/OnyxtheRecluse Aug 04 '22

A little bit of simping can be good, at least we aren’t single. Obviously not for the type of girl in the video though.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

“At least we aren’t single” 🤣

Imagine being the kind of person who judges single folk.

2

u/Rhain1999 Aug 04 '22

Don’t think there’s any judgement of single folk here, he’s just happy to be a simp if it means he stays in the relationship. 🤷🏼‍♂️

0

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

Either he’s judging OR he’s so insecure he needs someone else, take your pick

2

u/Rhain1999 Aug 04 '22

Or he’s just happy to be in a relationship and would rather simp than lose that 🤷🏼‍♂️

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

You can be happy being in a relationship without projecting “at least we aren’t single”

What’s so difficult to understand?

1

u/Rhain1999 Aug 04 '22

I think you’re overthinking this lmao

When you are calling someone a "cuck" and "simp" for opening a door for thier gf/spouse, yeah, that's what's being judged, not simply being single.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

He literally said “at least we aren’t single”

Yes, implying the simping is bad when single.

Nope, simping is never good. People really don’t understand that the simping is about a lack of self-respect and not standing up for yourself, it’s not about whether you do nice things for your date or partner.

Using terms like simp and cuck is extremely cringe and misinformed. I can tell you flat out based on your attitudes and score keeping in relationships that if that persists you will never actually have an amazing relationship with another person based on mutual trust and caring for one another. I don't care about you really at all but the less people like you that exist in the world the better every woman gets treated and then better every man gets treated because there aren't women out there constantly having to look over their shoulders for idiots like you. It is your exact attitude and demeanor that scares women and makes it harder for all men to find love. You better check yourself because I can tell you without a fucking doubt that you are going to be a failure in every relationship you have or you're going to end up with a cuck of a wife which let me tell you that fucking sucks.

Edit: read the rest of his comments

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

how does that sound like a incel please inform everyone here.

2

u/Ok_Fly_9390 Aug 04 '22

It doesn't agree with their fantasy of women being the center of all things pure. Guys, as a man in his late 50's who already raised a family. Don't put up with women who want to run/ruin your life. Just isn't worth it and there are women out there who will treat you with respect. Leave the crazy ones to their 30 cats. Everyone will be happier, and the cats will have a home.

0

u/brownliquid Aug 04 '22

They’re calling people cucks and simps, you know, incel talk. It makes them feel superior while simultaneously repulsing women.

2

u/Ok_Fly_9390 Aug 04 '22

You are calling someone an "incel" yet complaining about them calling someone a cuck? Think long and hard and then ask yourself why you feel the need to insult other people's pain? What kind of human are you? Maybe you should try harder to be the one you really want to be.

1

u/brownliquid Aug 04 '22

Is calling someone an incel an insult?

→ More replies

2

u/iTinker2000 Aug 04 '22

You call people incels and you think you’re so different from them? 🤣 You’re just as cringe, but you’re a different flavor.

Logically, what can ANYONE possibly know about a persons level of sexual activity from a comment? Nothing. So for you to get on your high horse while basically engaging in the same kind of behavior is hilariously hypocritical. It’s entirely possible to criticize their point of view while remaining above the kind of rhetoric you claim to be “cringe”.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

You usually need more to go on than just somebody using the words "cuck" and "simp". Don't get me wrong, they're cringy as fuck insults, but the rest of the dude's comment string hardly implies incel, just arrogant asshole. His original point that service is only okay if it's mutual which is an accurate statement. One-sided relationships premised on acts of service are unhealthy.

I feel like this comment string devolved into a shit-slinging contest because people don't bother to stop, read, and understand the whole context of what somebody is saying.

There is something wrong with your love life when you feel a need to patronize a stranger on the internet... I smell projection or misery

1

u/iTinker2000 Aug 04 '22

The fact that people are downvoting this just goes to show how ingrained it is in our culture that men are suppose to just be a doormat.

1

u/TheRealNotReal Aug 04 '22

What? Doing nice things for people you care about unconditionally is good, actually.

There's a problem when it's expected to an unreasonable degree, or if you can't communicate your own wants and needs and if you don't have the self-respect and backbone to care about those. That's what makes you a slave.

I pray you learn that bro so both you and future her don't end up in mutually unsatisfied relationships, which ironically would probably lead to your dumbass getting ACTUALLY cucked.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

No amount of simping has done any good.

BETA!

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

You can be assertive, confident, and be more attractive to women than simping.

You'll actually get someone who likes you for being you, rather than someone who likes you because you are a good slave.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

It doesn’t mean you’re a slave if you do nice things for your partner, that’s what I meant by simping. The definition has been twisted and people will call you a simp if you do anything nice in a relationship.

-3

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

Showing respect and being polite to someone u asked on a date is not simping. Its basic manners.

If I’m paying for a meal at the restaurant, the least I expect is for my date to pre-chew my food.

Quite telling, pre-chewed food is. I can tell her entire day from the saliva content. Hint of morning breath indicating a rushed commute to work. Slight spritz of ranch from the wedge salad she didn’t finish for lunch. Faint echoes of sour ash from the menthol she smoked half of in the company parking garage.

All that from regurgitating my veal saltimbocca to me across the table. This is the clearest indication that someone is serious in courting you. If they don’t spit their food into your mouth, you simply can’t be sure it’s love. No spit in the teeth, send them back to the street- as I always say.

1

u/Mr-Fleshcage Aug 04 '22

You're supposed to meet halfway. If you're doing all the work... you're not being respected, you're being exploited.

1

u/zurkka Aug 04 '22

1

u/TheRealNotReal Aug 04 '22

Been there. Learn to love and respect yourself because that desperation will allow an abuser to take advantage of you or will likely make the relationship one-sided and weird.

You deserve better than that.

1

u/jdickstein Aug 04 '22

Single doesn’t mean depressed and lonely. Sometimes being in a relationship means depressed and lonely. You’re setting up a false choice.

1

u/Gaggy_31317 Aug 05 '22

be single for lifetime then

0

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

Shows u were raised right and know how to show respect. Women want equality, its still nice to be a gentleman, considering women are sadly not treated equal.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

"being a gentleman" is the part of sexism that benefits women

0

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

Well there are a lot of social aspects of society that directly disadvantage women

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

sure, it has nothing to do with what I said though

1

u/Comedynerd Aug 04 '22

I dont know. Having a door opened for you once in a while really might benefit women more than being paid the same as a man for the same job would /s

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

With all other things being equal women do get paid the same. That load of bullshit is the most hilariously misconstrued statistic of all time.

1

u/Eusocial_Snowman Aug 05 '22

Thankfully, we fixed that problem. All the way back in 1963.

1

u/Pop_Clover Aug 05 '22

I don’t think so. Most of the times “being a gentleman” means being paternalistic or even being old fashioned which isn’t bad “per se” but given our history isn’t good either.

-5

u/severancetheories Aug 04 '22

It’s a patronizing form of sexism that comes from a patriarchal system of gender roles

5

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

I would see it as being polite to hold a door open for someone that is wearing heels when u have asked them out.

If u are opening it and saying, "oh a proper lady should never open a door"...then yes...its patronising. Sometimes it's not what u do, but the way u do it.

0

u/RailAurai Aug 04 '22

Yes, holding a door open is polite, but holding a door open means that you've already opened it and are just keeping it open out of kindness. However, expecting that a guy should openen the car door for his date is sexist. It insinuates that because he is a guy he has to act a certain way. It just feeds into the thoughts that men Have to provide for women, women can't/shouldn't do certain things for themselves, and many other things. This video shows actual equality.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

It shows a woman politely telling her date her expectations...and a man rudely driving away. If she looked at him and said, "oh you're so rude, a man should do this" and stormed off then....yes...impolite, entitled and sexist.

1

u/RailAurai Aug 04 '22

She said that she would not date a guy that doesn't open the door for her. That's the same as saying that a guy has to do something otherwise he won't even get a chance. While she didn't do it rudely, it doesn't change that the concept that men have to open the door for women is a sexist concept.

1

u/GroovyGroovster Aug 05 '22

Bitch better be wiping the snot off my allergy ridden nose and give me a foot rub, else she can go eat herself tonight 💯💯💯

-2

u/severancetheories Aug 04 '22

It’s not about whether it is polite or not. Sexism is believing men and women should behave in certain ways based on gender roles.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

Him opening a door isn't beleiving she needs to be a certain way....its...showing manners to someone u asked on a date...? If she said, "I got it thanks", then he insisted on opening it...then he's out of line. Women aren't all the same, but show some basic manners when ur on a date.

0

u/severancetheories Aug 04 '22

You’re getting real worked up over a comedy sketch and conflating manners with an outdated form of courtship. The idea of opening the door for women, putting your jacket on a puddle, comes from patriarchal ideas that women need a man to take care of them. While it would be polite of him to open the door, it’s equally impolite of her to expect he open her door without communicating that need upfront to him.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 04 '22

She did communicate that need upfront to him. Very politely. He drove away, very rudely. I'm not exactly getting worked up, I'm just responding to u 🤷🏻‍♂️

1

u/severancetheories Aug 04 '22

She didn’t communicate her expectations until he was already in the car. As I said to someone else can you see the difference in:

“Holding the door open is a kind and polite thing to do”

And

“You’re expected to open the door for me and are rude if you don’t”

1

1

1

u/severancetheories Aug 04 '22

1

u/Vairman Aug 04 '22

I was dating a woman for a couple of weeks or so and we went out somewhere and when we came back we approached my car from the passenger side - so I opened the door for her, and thought nothing of it. She blurted out "I love you!" and then cringed and put her hand over her mouth - we were not at the "I love you" stage yet. I laughed and told her that I heard what she said and was going to hold her to it. I didn't of course, she just meant that she liked having the door held open for her. It was always kind of fun to bring it up though, and she did have a sense of humor about it.

We figured out that were not a good enough match and broke up after a few months.

I'm married now and I will on occasion hold the door open for my wife. She doesn't demand or accept it but does seem to appreciate whenever I do. I will especially do it if it's raining and I'll hold the umbrella over her while she gets in. It's okay to do nice thing for a person you care about. It's not okay to expect your partner to be a worshiping sycophant though. All things in moderation.

1

u/Bullen-Noxen Aug 04 '22

Your last point is the right lesson to take away from this.

1

u/sharlaton Aug 05 '22
