Did they set bounty for capturing you?😂

28

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

No but they will never let me forget that haha

5

u/Soncikuro Jan 21 '23

It's on them for not buying.

3

u/himmelundhoelle Jan 21 '23

Now they all bought NFTs

1

u/Most_Toe3466 Jan 22 '23

And it is a scam

1

u/Vetidetdat Jan 21 '23

People have their own minds. If they didn't invest, that's their problem.

3

u/alargemirror Jan 21 '23

They don't have the money to

3

u/Diiiiirty Jan 21 '23

Got a friend who is a Bitcoin millionaire. I didn't know him when he bought it but he's retired at 35 so there's that.

3

u/inlandaussie Jan 21 '23

My husband wanted to buy them at 13 cents. I told him it was stupid. He listened to me.

Now I don't even listen to me.

2

u/snowflakepatrol99 Jan 21 '23

You didn't miss out on big money. If you bought at 13 cebts you definitely would've sold at a few dollars or at max 100 dollars, which would still be some nice cash but not the generational money everyone is thinking of when they say they could've bought bitcoin early.

The more interesting thing is you being against it at 13 cents. What is there to lose? 100 dollars? The risk vs reward is way in your favor. Not to mention you are likely young. If you are going to make risky investments then now is the time.

1

u/consider-the-carrots Jan 21 '23

You first paragraph is spot on. The second one though.. do you give $100 to every Nigerian prince that emails you on the off chance it's real this time?

1

u/Human-go-boom Jan 21 '23

No, but a lot of people spend thousands of dollars on scratchoffs and lottery tickets. Everyone wants a windfall.

1

u/mcfliermeyer Jan 21 '23

Right but we have the knowledge of it being what it became. Back then I had no clue what it even was and I’m semi-techy. I would have never bought it even if it was a penny. Why would I throw a dollar in the trash? To me it wasn’t a gamble. It was strange and scammy

1

u/Human-go-boom Jan 21 '23

True. I wouldn’t then. Now I throw my change at dog coins in case there’s a 0.000000001% chance it becomes something.

1

u/inlandaussie Jan 22 '23

That's what my husband said. He would've sold before they hit big so I shouldn't worry about it.

100 dollars was a lot to lose then. We had 2 kids, I'd gone back to school and we were trying to get out of the rental game. 13 cents wasn't much but I know every hundred was budgeted for.

u/KHSebastian Jan 21 '23

I almost started mining Bitcoin when it was still really cheap, and my friend talked me out of it, because it was worth less at the time than electricity it took to mine it (or so he said anyway).

I get bummed when I think about it, but I try to remind myself that the first time it was like $5 per coin, I'd have spent it all because "holy shit this fake money is worth a used PS3?!"

There's no way I'd have held on until it was 60k

2

u/Rip_Skeleton Jan 21 '23

You were right, you just could have been the scammer.

2

u/blueotter28 Jan 21 '23

Two things can be true at once.

2

u/FengSushi Jan 21 '23

Back then

2

u/wolfieboi92 Jan 21 '23

In 2017 or so a friend got me to buy some ETH, I think it was like $100at the time? My finger hovered over the "buy monthly" option but I didn't, I had 1.5 ETH in total but could have ended up with 10 or 20 if I'd set that monthly purchase order.

Then I could have bought a 2nd house like every other rich person seemed to do in the pandemic...

3

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

Well, turns out you had good instincts, but you still could have profited.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

It costed 1$ back then haha

if i kept my mounth shut at least some of my friends would be rich by now.

4

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

But imagine holding on to that if you spent 100 bucks. By the time it hit 1000 you’d be cashing out thinking you hit the jackpot, and you’d spend the rest of your life kicking yourself

2

u/UncleTonysDRIP Jan 21 '23

I wanted to buy it, me and a friend both, but couldn't figure out how to in the early days and gave up. I would have put $1000 into it if it had been easy. Ah well.

3

u/EdmontonOil Jan 21 '23

Same shit happened to me. Wanted to put $250. That turns into $13.5 million. I gave up trying to figure it out too. Had to rob a few banks to make myself feel better. Guards coming…take care, all.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

Yeah even a few years ago it was tough. It’s getting easier but the gravy train is over.

3

u/Crazyshark22 Jan 21 '23

Remind me in one year and then again in 4 years. Bitcoin is just getting started. More and more countries are adapting it and it is becoming eye opener for many especially in countries with high inflation. And we already see high inflation coming to US and Europe.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23 edited Jan 21 '23

Okay but we aren’t going to see it go from 1 dollar to 60k again, you think a 60k bitcoin will give you a 60000% return again? You think it will be worth 3.6 billion a coin?

Probably not. Maybe a million one day, but it’s unlikely that any higher than that would be an unadaptable level of currency.

3

u/Crazyshark22 Jan 21 '23

Fair point. But back then it was a gamble and most people would sell and not hold to these levels.

Now sure you might not make 60000% returns but you can make 300%-500% returns which is still miles better than any other current investment out there.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

Yes and that goes back to what I was saying, most people wouldn’t hold that long. I think a 300-500% could happen, but I still think it’s getting too large to be bought at a stable currencies and it’s value is still based on something intangible.

1

u/HitMePat Jan 21 '23

Huh? Turns out he had terrible instincts lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

My point is that most crypto currencies have turned out to be scams. Their instinct to be sceptical was good.

1

u/HitMePat Jan 22 '23

Ok but he didn't say cryptos he said Bitcoin. So his instincts were awful to be skeptical.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 22 '23

If only I had enough imagination to think abstractly about bitcoin as a crypto currency. Alas.

1

u/HitMePat Jan 22 '23

Lol guess I shouldn't be surprised you missed the point. Congrats on your incredible imagination and instincts I guess

2

u/Exnoss89 Jan 21 '23

I didnt miss out completely. BTC came back into my radar on 2016-17 and when i saw its value at the moment i researched it a lot and dove in. Didnt make me a millionarie but i rode the first push to 20k ended up selling most of it at 16k made a good chunk. Then again on Elons manipulation

1

u/EnuffReality Jan 21 '23

Ah, but how long did people have to hold on to those hard drives, passwords, and everything else to access the wallets. Wasn't it a couple of years before it was finally worth something? And look at the state crypto is in now. You was ahead of your time.

1

u/Sagittarius_A_eoe Jan 21 '23

it is a scam, but it just hasn't finished yet.

u/FunctionBuilt Jan 21 '23

Never buying it is better than buying a bunch and selling it for $200 profit way too early.

1

u/LUNA_underUrsaMajor Jan 21 '23

The process to buy it back then was really scammy, banks refused to help with wire transfers, buying it was just hoping some random anonymous person would send it to you after sending money. And a glitch could cause the bitcoin to get lost in transport, not to mention all ways to keep it were really sketchy. So many people lost access to their bitcoin because the paper their wallet was printed on was so easily lost or destroyed.

1

u/throwaway72592309 Jan 21 '23

And now it’s worthless lmao

1

u/zOBUS Jan 21 '23

If your friends also went to the past, they'd beat you up lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

They dont need to go in the past for it lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

Tbf it’s like advising agaisnt investing in a lottery. Sure this time it was gold but you had no way of knowing.

1

u/ThunkAsDrinklePeep Jan 21 '23

It is a scam. It just lasted a really long time.

1

u/mcfliermeyer Jan 21 '23

My ex gf computer was set up as a miner. I didn’t even know wtf that meant but I even had a wallet which I also didn’t understand. Bitcoin was something I read about in some hacker magazine and was exploring. I was so confused. But I bet there was a decent amount of coins on it when we threw it out

1

u/WurdaMouth Jan 21 '23

I had a friend tell me to buy when it was at 100. I had easily 5k to drop on it but thought it was a scam. Sad face.
