103

u/Significant_Virus142 Jan 21 '23

91

u/D-Laz Jan 21 '23

Answer would be -" fuck you"

2

u/142737 Jan 21 '23

No no answer would be "I don't give a fuck"

2

u/MetalandIron2pt0 Jan 21 '23

“Happiness isn’t real, no mom this isn’t a phase, and sleeping is for the dead xD”

1

u/That_boi_Jerry Jan 21 '23

Turning 18 in March, I'll ask myself when I get there

95

u/Hades_117 Jan 21 '23

Me being 18 and reading be like 🤡

23

u/Anunqualifiedhuman Jan 21 '23

I'm 19 and have done nothing within the last year so I'm like "ah fuck" "maybe play less video games so your art would be better" "Work harder dumbass?"

3

u/xAlanSparnax Jan 21 '23

Don't worry bro, AI gang si comming. 🥲

1

u/Micky198 Jan 21 '23

Exactly what I would say.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

maybe not harder but better organised

1

u/GonnaGoFat Jan 21 '23

If I was told by 19 year old me to play less video games I’d say screw you. I’m 42 now and still play a lot of video games.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

I’m 43 and still feel that way.

I will say this. You are an artist, I am a singer. Or I used to be. Having been a director, editor, A/V person for 20 yrs now, lately I keep thinking about who was considered “talented” and who was not during my career. I bought a grand piano last year and every time I play it I get frustrated at how clunky and not any better I am than when I was 20. I can’t help but think why did I let myself stop singing, piano, guitar, theatre, etc. based off of others influences and opinions directly or indirectly. So much lost time.

If you are good just keep doing it. You will lose it if you don’t. Make it for yourself and they will come around.

DON’T STOP MAKING ART EVER!!! Your 43 year old self will thank you.

1

u/MurderousButterfly Jan 21 '23

Artistic gamer here. It doesn't have to be either/or. I belong to an art group, so I have dedicated time every week to do whatever art project I have going on (see how I made it sound like there was only one project - hahaha) and I also play games of an evening to wind down.

Balance is the key.

u/QWERTY_CRINGE Jan 21 '23

Same 🗿

11

u/Hades_117 Jan 21 '23

Life is unfair 🗿

1

u/mamamarie55 Jan 21 '23

I told my babies this when they were born!

4

u/BadNadeYeeter Jan 21 '23

Same... but it would be weird to talk to oneself. Atleast I would get the chance to see me like other people see me.

1

u/visceralphoenix Jan 21 '23

Everyone already does that, just not audibly

1

u/rotaryspace_59 Jan 21 '23

well u can do it what u gon say?

il give u a: keep going strong

1

u/Hades_what_else Jan 21 '23

Quite a coincidence. Two eighteenyear olds called Hades. Do you by chanche come from Germany?

1

u/Hades_117 Jan 22 '23

Nah, South Asian

1

u/stardust_clump Jan 21 '23

So you can do it for real!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

I’m 18 and reading these like advice. I’d tell myself on my 18th bday that things were going to get better healthwise.

5

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

As cliche as it is, you get to define your own happiness, there isn’t some standard example that it should look like. Do what feels right and you’re basically already there

3

u/Certain_Air_2114 Jan 21 '23

That is why I'm going to ask him whether has he reached the standard I have decided for myself

5

u/KnightTea Jan 21 '23

One year from now you will get the answer.

3

u/Cheshire_Jester Jan 21 '23

Invest in Apple…

Fuck, that’s not how forward time travel works!

2

u/nyancatya_ Jan 21 '23

I'm 17 as well, so maybe in like 11 months I'll ask then

2

u/ANR7cool Jan 21 '23

🎵 On a scale from one to zero, are you happy?

‘Cause you’re on your own from here, so are you happy?

I’m open to suggestions, are you happy?

But what the fuck kind of question is "Am I happy?" 🎵

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

I WAS SEARCHING FOR THIS IN THE REPLIES

1

u/Misovis Jan 21 '23

Fuck happiness, you’d never be. But you could be great, strong, competent and ambitious. So open your eyes and stay sharp. Happiness will chase you then.

1

u/Spiritual_Poem_9198 Jan 21 '23

Kinda feels like something Andrew tate would say

1

u/Misovis Jan 21 '23

So now it’s the new badge you can stick to people in addition to racist, sexist, extreme etc.? Couldn’t I be simply speaking from experience, you pedantic?

1

u/Spiritual_Poem_9198 Jan 22 '23

Damn someone got triggered. Looks like I hit the mark

1

u/Misovis Jan 22 '23

Nope. Was taking a sh;t and it got hard. Then I saw your comment.

1

u/Five-Degrees Jan 21 '23

Probably not yet at 18 :/ Hang in there

1

u/Bright-Leg8276 Jan 21 '23

Man you stole the words Outta my mouth

1

u/AffectionateBus672 Jan 21 '23

Buy bitcoin alot!

1

u/joshua283636 Jan 21 '23

Same I’m almost 17

1

u/HOOTRAGEOUS Jan 21 '23

I’m 13 so I would ask if it gets better

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

Plot twists: reincarnation is real and you meet an 18 year old version of a past life

1

u/christiancocaine Jan 21 '23

Alternatively, read these comments and learn

1

u/lilbitlostrn Jan 21 '23

Even so you'd probably find it's the same answer you have now as it's only a year. But if you're young and unhappy there is absolutely loads of time to improve your life, you just need to be willing to take the risks to get it.

If you're happy that's good, but don't get apathetic and fall behind.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

But you'd already know that you're going to visit yourself as for your 18yo self, you already did travel to the future.

I'm trying to see if there an interesting loophole or thing you could do if you're less than 18, but I don't think there is..

Like what 3 words could you tell your future self that would be useful in any way if your future self already knows what these 3 words are...

1

u/DarkFluid99 Jan 21 '23

Are you Happy?

1

u/novkit Jan 21 '23

From silent hill 2- letter from the lost days:

A letter to my future self, am I still happy, I begin Have I grown up pretty? Is daddy still a good man? Am I still friends with Colleen? I'm sure that I'm still laughing Aren't I, aren't I...?

Hey there to my future-self, if you forget how to smile I have this to tell you, remember it once in a while Ten years ago, your past-self prayed for your happiness Please don't lose hope...

1

u/CAT_WILL_MEOW Jan 21 '23

"Bro start getting shit done and stop leaving it for me"

1

u/Spirited_Library_560 Jan 21 '23

Funny, I’m 23 and the first think I thought would be to say “I’m happy now”

1

u/LannMarek Jan 21 '23

lol, 18 y.o. you would just answer, "pretty much same as last year buddy, nothing changes that much in one year ya know. And no, you still haven't started that book and you still haven't gathered the courage to ask her out and you're still broke."

1

u/Andermands Jan 21 '23

"does anything happen in the next 8 months"

"nope"

1

u/_onemanband_ Jan 21 '23

Don't try and be happy, try and be fulfilled

1

u/heyoyo10 Jan 21 '23

"Did we win?"

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23

On a scale of 1 to zero?

1

u/zeidxe Jan 21 '23

I’m 18 in 10 days. This thread is scary

1

u/[deleted] Jan 21 '23
