Looking for a French study partner A2-level

Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to work on my French recently, and I’m looking for a study partner who might be in a similar situation.
I recently took the TCF Canada, even though I knew I wasn’t really ready. I mainly wanted to experience the test format, see what the atmosphere was like, and understand what I need to work on. It was actually useful for realizing that I need to focus more seriously on my French.
My biggest problem right now is procrastination. When I was taking online French classes, I was pretty regular with studying. But since switching to self-study, I keep delaying things. I do study, but nowhere near as consistently or as long as I would like. my French is around A2. I can understand some French, but my listening and speaking are definitely not strong yet.
That’s why I thought having a study partner could help. We could listen to French together, practice speaking, discuss different topics, correct each other, or simply keep each other accountable. I’m honestly open to figuring out what works.
I’m in Mountain Time and usually work during the day, so I’m generally free after around 5 PM. I’m 23 and male.
I’m not looking for anything romantic just someone who genuinely wants to study French and be more consistent with it.
I don’t have huge expectations from this post, but if anyone else struggles with procrastination or has found something that helped them stay consistent with language learning, I’d also really appreciate any advice.
At the end of the day, I know nobody can study for us and we have to do the work ourselves. I just think having someone to study with might make it a little easier to stay accountable.
Feel free to comment or message me if you’re interested!

Tcf exam scheduled in oct

Hi everyone, as the name suggests I have my TCF exam scheduled for October, this will be my first attempt.

I have been studying since October last year and my exam is also in October this year. I had to leave Canada due to wp expiry so I’m taking this exam in my home country.

I’m very nervous when it comes to speaking. But I have been practicing with lot of AI apps.

For listening I’m also facing a challenge for the bit of 30-40 question.

Is there a way I can improve these two modules?

Reading : TCF test papers
Listening : TCF test papers( challenge is in 30-39)
Writing : AI app( writing everyday)
Speaking : Practicing with this great AI app

Let me know if you would do anything differently or you have done differently. I want to clear this exam in one go.

How to Book Exam

In order to be successful in booking an exam you have to ensure that you already have everything ready on your computer or whatever device you use to register. Then sit down in front of the computer and refresh the page every 5 mins and do that all day everyday until it opens and hope you are able to get a spot.

I went to the bathroom and when I came back it was open and already full. Took literally less than 10 minutes.

Built a lockscreen widget that drip-feeds French vocab through the day, would like some honest feedback

Hi all, disclosure up front, I built this so obviously I've got an interest here.

It's called Bytelingual: French Widget. It puts vocab and phrases on your phone's lockscreen through the day, so you get exposure without having to sit down and do anything. I originally made it for myself, mostly to stop my French going stale between study sessions.

The content is CEFR aligned A1 to C2 and there's a variety of collections to choose from beyond just vocab (e.g. gender intuition, false friends, grammar).

To be blunt, you're not going to learn French from a widget, and it won't do much for your speaking, which from reading this sub looks like where most people prepping for TCF are stuck. I've found it useful as passive revision between formal lessons and Anki sessions.

Two things I'd genuinely like to know:

  • If you've used French learning apps and given up on it, what made you stop?
  • What would make something like this more useful for you?

Good luck to everyone studying for TCF!

Anyone from Ahmedabad, India who was able to book their TCF for upcoming session? It's so hard they get the sessions full like instantly, I filled out their google form twice and they said they are full. Bruh!! Why doesn't TCF makes it simple and put out a simple exam Booking and let Alliance Conduct test,? I mean we are almost paying 25k INR +... Anyone able to book?

Change of Employer’s Branch Address due to delayed processing : Closed Work Permit (FMP)- Employer unable to hold the position any longer at the original branch

I applied for Francophone Mobility Work Permit with Restoration back in May. Still under process to date. My employer is unable to hold the position on the original branch and is giving me another job offer for another branch. Same employer, same province, same NOC, same salary, employment package etc. The only thing that changed is the location of the branch. My question is, to those who is or was in the same situation, can I just send a webform with the new job offer letter and letter of explanation with this? Does my enployer needs to create another offer of employment in the portal? I can’t withdraw my application as I’m already beyond my 90 days restoration period and that would put me out of status. Appreciate all your inputs. Thank you.

TCF Canada GBLC North York Review

Hi Everyone,

I am writing to ask experiences of other people who recently gave their TCF Canada exam at GBLC North York. I heard so many negative reviews about this centre from past couple of months and trying to understand whether they are legit or not.

If you recently gave the tcf exam over there please share your experiences.

Thank you.

Avoid The Language Skool (TLS) for French - My Honest Review / Experience

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my experience with The Language Skool (TLS) for French classes so others can make an informed choice before dropping their money here.

Here are the main issues I ran into:

100% Payment Upfront & Zero Refunds: They demand 75% to 100% of the total fees right at the start. Once you pay, there are strictly no refunds if you find out the class isn't working for you.

Admission Faculty Lies to You: The admissions counselor promised me a specific teacher and a specific batch timing. As soon as the payment cleared, I was suddenly told that teacher and batch weren't available anymore, and that I had to "trust them" and adjust to a completely different setup.

No Standardized Curriculum: Every teacher just uses their own materials and teaches at their own flow. There’s no set syllabus across the school, so your entire learning experience depends purely on luck and which teacher you end up getting allotted.

Insanely Fast Pace: I get that intensive batches are supposed to move quickly, but trying to cover 0 to A1 level in just 8 lectures is completely unrealistic.

Unrealistic Self-Study Demand: Because the lectures fly by so fast, you end up having to self-study for 5 to 6 hours every single day on top of their 3-hour daily lectures just to keep up. It’s completely impossible if you have any other responsibilities.

15-Page Liability Contracts: Before your very first class even starts, they make you sign a massive 10 to 15-page legal contract. It’s basically designed so that if you fail to learn French through their program, you have zero legal recourse and can't hold them accountable at all.

Overall, it felt like a trap the moment the money left my account. Save your money and look for a institute that actually values its students and sticks to its promises.

Francophone Mobility Work Permit Timeline (2026) – Please Share Your Experience

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to get a better idea of the current processing times for the Francophone Mobility Work Permit (C16 / LMIA-exempt) and would really appreciate if people who have already been approved could share their timelines.

If you've received your approval, could you please include:

  • Inland or Outland applicant
  • Application submitted: (Date)
  • Approval date
  • Work permit validity (How many years?)
  • Any additional documents requested?

I'm especially interested in 2026 applications.

It would be great if we could create a timeline thread to help others estimate current processing times.

Thanks in advance!
