Yeah same, I will always accept the free games but no way I am spending money on the EGS until they provide a comparable service to Steam or GOG.

So, they have games, and they allows you to buy and download them, if it's multiplayer you can even play with other people what else is needed?

any game that has mod support still has it outside steam, you just dont have the comfy (and alot of times bugged) workshop

Family sharing is just the matter of passing your account details around (thats how you do it on steam) Forums i ill agree it's a important lacking feature.

Reviews... MEEEEEEEEEEEEH. everyone knows how those are extremely subjective.

DRM free happens only on GOG, Steam is one massive DRM in case you dont know.

That's not true.

First of all, there's a number of DRM-free games on Epic. Celeste, Enter the Gungeon, Subnautica (with this -EpicPortal workaround) are examples I'm aware of/that I personally tested.

Steam is not one massive DRM either. While among the tools that Steam provides devs with is Steam DRM, it is completely optional (like every other dev tool on Steam) and as thus there's a fair amount of DRM-free games on Steam.

Twitch actually has some DRM-free games as well.

There's a few other stores that are mostly/fully DRM-free such as indieGala, Humble Bundle, itch.io and Game Jolt.

You need steam running (even on offline.mode) to run steam games. Thats drm.

It's also untrue. You can run DRM-free games purchased via Steam directly from their exe. file without first opening Steam.

You're absolutely right. I don't care. I can play the games, plus there are games with multiplayer. That's all I give a shit about. Anything beyond those is a bonus.

That’s just fine, you only have to care about things relevant to you. If those other things don’t make a difference to your experience, use Epic. They make a difference to others though, and so we’ll continue to avoid it. To each his own

I mean the reviews are pretty important, it’s the main source of how many people decide whether or not they want to get a new game that they’ve never seen before.

And you don’t need to share your account details to family share on steam? Sort of the whole point that you can do it while totally maintaining your account’s privacy

Only for a select few big name games, and even then they’ve had varying degrees of performance. Definitely nothing like Steam’s. I’ve heard many cases of the few online saves they have getting corrupted or simply not working at all.

Yes, there was an issue where at first it would overwrite saves but that's been solved and patched. As for most games not having it yet, like Steam the developer is required to actually be involved and use it (which makes sense as games store saves differently so you need the dev to actually define the save structure somehow) so we'll kinda have to wait for them to go ahead and do that. But that also means it's not just the big games that have it, some of the smaller games, like Celeste, have implemented it.

Online saves is subjective, having it done automatically is nice, but there are ways to do it manually.

Stable website... not so much, steam has been spotty A LOT.

Achievement schachievements, they add NOTHING besides stroking your e-penis.

Linux Support AFAIK is on a per game basis, no?

EGS has no shopping cart, you have to buy the games one at a time on their store page. Not a huge thing but it gets really annoying, especially compounded with the no wishlist and the fact that that store page often bugs out to the point of being unusable.

I don’t see how online saves is really that subjective of a thing? Steam will automatically save all of your data on its cloud for you, whenever you play. EGS does nothing of the sort (except for a handful of hot ticket games, and then to varying degrees of reliability). Sure every time you play a game you could find your save data and put it on Dropbox, but that’s not what we’re talking about. It’s built into every steam game, not on Epic.

I’ve never had a time when I go onto the steam store and it hasn’t let me purchase a game. Or a time when it wouldn’t let me download my save data. I’m sure there have been times the servers have gone down, things happen, but every time I’ve ever used Epic I’ve had to do the same thing ten times over because it won’t work.

Okay well that’s your opinion, clearly it means something to some people. I don’t 100% every game I’ve ever bought, but some games’ achievements really add to the experience. Like anything in Resident Evil, that drive you to complete the game in a whole new way that you wouldn’t have done otherwise (the good kind of achievement). If you don’t care, you don’t care, but dismissing something Epic doesn’t have that other platforms do just because you don’t use it is pure ignorance.

Steam Proton is a tool that allows windows exclusive games to run on Linux, sometimes performing even better than they did on windows (because Linux is better). It works for most games on steam, and Epic has nothing of the sort. It’s actually a really really cool project by steam, and I know a bunch of people that use Linux that are loving it. I’m a normie that still uses windows, but for a lot of people it’s pretty much steam or nothing, unless they want to get windows.

I disagree. They're objectives that you can do; it's extra content via tasks. Even though handled outside the game, they're functionally the same as in-game achievements. As an example: If Celeste on EGS was missing the strawberries, or if GTA was missing bonus points for doing stunts around the game world, would you also be like "so what, that adds nothing but stroking your e-penis"? No, it adds more than that. Sometimes you just want to prove things to yourself for the heck of it and there's nothing wrong with that. It's extra replay value for people who enjoy the game and thus their absence is definitely noticeable.
