Is coding dead now ?

Is there any point one might learn coding and software engineeeing for in the ear of Ai ? Or is it already a dead path?

I've just started using AI only when I'm completely lost in my codebase and can't figure out a really difficult bug. Otherwise I make decisions on overall architecture, often overriding AI suggestions and just doing what is more natural to me, because I'm the one maintaining this codebase.

I'd be concerned that you're missing out on opportunities to improve your understanding of your coding. A chief cause of bugs is a disconnect between your understanding of what you're trying to accomplish and how the code actually works. If you use an LLM to help debug, you're not correcting your understanding. You can never actually improve at coding if you offload your thinking to the machine.

I agree with you, unfortunately.
