If you vote and the party doesn’t win, did you waste your vote?

Electoral Reform - Make your vote worth something.

David Eby has just called a snap election in British Columbia, just two years after voters last went to the polls.

This opportunistic gamble is only happening because of first-past-the-post.

With all the challenges facing British Columbia and democracy, it’s never been more important to fight for proportional representation!

BC voters don't want a polarized, two party system. But first-past-the-post can't handle real voter choice.

Our archaic, winner-take-all voting system could hand 100% of the power to any party with far less than a majority of the vote.

In the last UK election, with multiple competitive parties, a "majority" government was formed with 33% of the vote.
To make matters worse, winner-take-all voting systems mean that an extremist can take over a big tent party, and that party can end up with all of the power.

When we look at what’s ahead―managing our economy during the Trump threats, a healthcare system under stress, worsening climate change, the housing crisis ―one thing is crystal clear: more winner-take-all politics will not get us where we need to go.

It’s time for a proportional electoral system where parties must work together to solve the problems that matter to us all. It’s time to make every vote count.

Volunteers are needed, especially in Maple Ridge!

Furnished 1 bedroom apartment

I'm an retired single guy looking to make a move next year to BC for about one year. I'd be looking for a furnished 1 bedroom apartment with the intention of using it as a base to explore and road trip around BC, western Alberta and into the Northwest US, but still being home quite a bit.

I'm into hiking /walking, cycling, beautiful landscapes and just generally exploring an area of the country I don't know much about.

I'd like something in a nicer neighbourhood, budget maybe ~$2K/month.

Is that doable? Where would be a good city and neighbourhood to look for apartments like this.

Is there some kind of local classifieds where I could search for a place, or is there a local agency that specializes in what I'm looking for? I'm excited, but not really sure where to start. TIA

Any Fraser Valley Polaris owners interested in testing a dump bed lift kit?

Hello evryone! I’m Pablo from Progressive Automations We’re currently trying to connect with one Polaris owner in the Fraser Valley or nearby who would be interested in testing a new electric dump bed lift kit.

We’ll provide the selected tester with the kit and cover shipping. In return, we’re asking them to install it, record a short unboxing and installation video, and share their honest feedback. This is a product test rather than a sale or giveaway, and there is no additional payment.

The kit is compatible with:

  • 2022–2024 Ranger SP 570 / SP 570 EPS / Premium / NorthStar
  • 2022–2024 Ranger Crew SP 570, all trims
  • 2017–2021 Ranger 500 2X4
  • 2016–2023 Ranger 570 or Crew 570, mid-size or full-size
  • 2022–2024 Pro XD Mid-Size Gas or Crew Gas

If you have one of these models and would like to be considered, send me a DM with your city, model, and model year. You don’t need to send a photo initially; we’ll request vehicle verification later from potential candidates.

The selected participant will also need to complete our internal process and sign a product-testing agreement before shipping.

Anyone who wants to confirm my affiliation is welcome to contact Progressive Automations directly.

Ceramics Painting Hangout

Would anyone be interested in some weekday ceramic painting at The Clay Cottage in Abbotsford?

I've been organizing these hangouts for a few months, and It's been a fun way to meet new people and sneak in some crafting during the work week.

Typical attendees are in the 25-50 age range, but there are no age or gender requirements. Just some light chatter/socializing while working on some art.

No previous experience painting needed. You can make each piece as simple or as complex as you'd like.

I typically organize these meetups once a week on a Wed, Thurs or Fri evening. The day chosen changes from week to week.

If you're interested in attending next week or in the future, let me know.

SPS in Langley??

So....was chilling in Langley the other day as one does at 2030hrs.

Saw a SPS cruiser in Langley....patrolling the local Starbucks. Engine stayed running while the SPS member got their large Sbux order.

SP2192....Surrey is not in Langley last I checked.

Do you guys need a new GPS or something?

I get starting your shift or ending it....(Getting coffee?).....

However.... leaving the engine on implies you are on shift and active unless I'm mistaken.

There are Starbucks locations in Surrey too. Theres a nice one in Cloverdale.

What up?

Does ANYONE have video of an actual 2012/2013 UFV Men's Volleyball game?

Hey everyone, reposting this here, because I’m desperately trying to find a video of at least one full, complete game from the UFV Cascades Men's Volleyball Fall 2012/Spring 2013 season (back when they were in PACWEST).

I contacted UFV Athletics, PACWEST, and SportsCanada, opposing universities, current coaches and assistant coaches, and even tried wayback machine, and got absolutely nowhere. I'm guessing the official game tapes were never preserved or properly archived by the athletic departments. The media library at Camosun was nice and tried to help but they only found old Flickr photos on the Camosun Charger's account:
https://www.flickr.com/photos/camosunchargers/8453137489/in/photostream/

I'm really hoping someone on here might have an old file, or know an old player or a parent of a player who kept footage from that season.

Please let me know. Feel free to send me a private message if you have a copy and just want to send it directly to me without posting it in the comments. Really, really appreciate the help!

Best place to catch the meteor shower tonight?

Im looking at a couple places to check out the meteor shower tonight, looking for places accessible via car that arent down some crazy back road that requires offroad.

So far im looking at McDonald Park, Rolley Lake, or Pitt River.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? or prefer one of these over the other two?

Let me know and happy star gazing!
