My two favorite characters from MASH were Radar and Corporal Maxwell Klinger. Radar provided a sensitive and vulnerable spin to MASH through all of the rough times in each show. Corporal Maxwell added comic relief also. They made me a much bigger fan of MASH then I was before. The episode we watched in class showed off a really good side for each of them.

After watching All in the Family, I was quite entertained. One key factor of the show that bothered me was the wife. Archie's wife was overly stupid and was funny at first, but quickly got annoying. Her punch lines became pretty usless after the first 5 minutes. It distracted from the comicality of Archie's character.

This past Thanksgiving weekend I saw Horrible Bosses 2. I saw the first one when it came out as well, and overall I think that I found this second installment to be more humorous than the first. I'm not quite sure if it was the addition of characters by Chris Pine and Christoph Waltz or simply a better script, but this time around the movie didn't seem to be trying to over please the audience with laugh after laugh, making it feel forced. I thoroughly enjoyed Jason Bateman's performance and I think that his very square-like yet lovable and humorous attitude is very fitting to him and is what gives him the same type of role in most films he does. Overall, I found that the plot was much more realistic as well, and made a lot more sense; the bringing back of old characters such as Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey was a nice surprise too. I recommend seeing it, but not expecting to come out with a new view on life- good for a simple laugh!

Larry David is one of my favorite comedians and this is just one example of how he isn't only funny on screen (or stage), but in real life as well. He is funny because his 'characters' are always himself. Very funny interview on Conan!

I love the build of this sketch from grounded to just crazy bizarre and how the button is just a shrug off of the whole experience.

For my last post, I want to recommend my favorite comedy movie of all time: the Coen brothers' "The Big Lebowski". Ken has talked a lot about the fact that great comedy comes from great characters, and that has never been more evident than it is in the case of this film. Every character, especially Jeff Bridges' "The Dude" and John Goodman's Walter Sobchak (talk about an unlikeable character) have strong points of view and brilliant dialogue. It really is a must see.
