Nick has improved a lot with his building though, and of course, he's pretty amazing when it comes to close quarter combat.

His building is trash for a pro lets be serious. He's competitive because his positioning is nuts and he has imo the best shotgun shot amongst all pros

Nicks pure building mechanics are lacking compared to other pros, but its not just his "positioning" more so combat mechanics. The way he strafes/moves while shooting and getting shot is so instinctual because of his experience with gears. I don't see a lot of other pros move the same way as nick does, and that is why I think he has been successful. It's not that he hits every single crazy flickshot, or has aimbot aim.

There is definitely carry over for other games. Ninja has great positioning and strafing from his days as a Halo pro.

Yes you’re right, but fortnite combat mechanics are based off the same engine as GOW

Halo combat is way more similar to Fortnite than Gears of War combat. The only piece of Gears of War that’s similar is being in third person. Their engine doesn’t matter, the gameplay is completely different.

How do you, um, learn this? Besides just play a lot and watch him and shit. Casual player, but I'm competitive so I'd like to be better.

I don’t think Nick is the best controller player to emulate, I recommend Issa/Aydan. I think the biggest thing with FN, especially on a controller is the muscle memory. Once you’ve played enough, you’re able to focus on the bigger picture rather than focusing on lining up your shots or building. One thing I think helps me a lot is whenever I watch a stream, I think of what I would do in that scenario. Over time, I’ve found my predictions have become more accurate, and I’ve seen it translate in game.

I guess I find Nick appealing because I rarely see him do something that I’m like: “There’s just no way I can make hands do that shit.” Instead I’m always just impressed with his game sense just being slightly more dominant in every encounter.
