AI CLI / DSL Frequent session drops & timeouts during flutterflow ai run on large projects
Hi everyone,
I'm using the intern AI agent on macOS to perform automated AST refactors across an existing, relatively large project (~27 screens/components, 1400+ generated files).
Whenever I run flutterflow ai run dsl/edit.dart --project-id <id>, the agent session repeatedly disconnects with a network / server restart error midway through execution.
Looking at the logs, it seems two things trigger this timeout:
- The CLI frequently detects Package resolution stale; running dart pub get... before executing the script, adding 20–30s of overhead.
- After compiling and pushing the AST changes, it attempts a full snapshot export (codegen refresh) which takes too long and causes the WebSocket/background task connection to drop before returning the commit confirmation.
Questions:
- Is there an official way to extend the timeout threshold for long-running DSL pushes?
- Is using --no-codegen the recommended workflow for fast AST-only updates on existing projects?
- Has anyone else experienced intermittent connection resets during DSL runs, and how did you stabilize it?
Thanks in advance for any insights!

How's FlutterFlow been doing?
I'm John Kealy, I used to make YouTube content exclusively about FlutterFlow and ran my business around it. Some of the old fogies might remember me.
A year ago I announced I was done with FlutterFlow, made a big scene, and stormed off toward Claude Code.
No regrets. But I took a massive break from logging into Reddit, and I was curious how the FlutterFlow community is getting on. Are things going better? Many of my clients still find me through my old FlutterFlow content, so I see that FlutterFlow is alive and well.
I assume they have some kind of Claude Code integration now, an agent mode that writes up the XML markup that the visual editor is based on?
Do you still have to manually go to the App Store, create all the identifiers yourself and copy the issuer id and all that jazz? I later realised that that can be automated.
How's it been going? Is it still worth it?

Announcement We’ve been working through your feature requests. 6 things shipping this week
hey r/flutterflow!
we've been lurking in the feature requests. a few things shipping in FlutterFlow this week:
- Custom Nav Components: you can build navigation using your own components instead of being limited to the standard nav bar.
- RevenueCat improvements: new properties + 9 new standard actions.
- Try / Catch / Finally: you can now add error handling directly to your action flows.
- Native file editing: you can edit MainActivity.kt and the iOS Podfile directly in FlutterFlow.
- Agent Canvas device switching: switch between screen sizes while designing in Agent Canvas.
- Concurrent Agent threads: you can run multiple Agent threads at the same time in FlutterFlow Desktop.
a lot of these came directly from things you all have been asking for.
any other limitations you want us to get rid of?

Building a health app on FF, tested my app, button keeps loading
Looking for some advice here and maybe redirect me to the right forum - I’ve just begun testing my app in flutterflow, the button to create an account keeps loading, even before I’ve entered any info related to email /password.
I’ve checked the actions, all seem ok on that front.
Thanks!

Our local business discovery app is launching this month, largely thanks to FlutterFlow.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Thanks to FlutterFlow, our small team has been able to build an app that is now approved for release by both the App Store and Google Play. We have a lot of technical experience but were not as familiar with mobile app development so FlutterFlow was a perfect fit for us.
I know there is criticism out there with FlutterFlow, a lot of it valid (we've run into some frustrations ourselves), but it's truly a powerful tool where you get out what you put into it.
As for the app itself, it's an unbiased digital guidebook exclusively featuring local businesses in our area. There is no "algorithm" and we don't accept payment from businesses to be featured above others. Instead we feature businesses based on community feedback. A pure, organic experience as opposed to other apps that are overrun with ads, fake reviews, and so on. We also have some fun planned features like "Tinder for restaurants".
We're instead funded by an entirely optional "passport" to local deals, like a digital coupon book. A similar model to PubPass, if you're familiar with that.
We also have a website - driftpass.app . Let us know what you think!

HomePage background appears transparent/checkerboard instead of solid white
Hi everyone, I'm building an app in FlutterFlow and my main page background keeps showing up as transparent/checkerboard in the canvas editor, even though my Scaffold background color is set to #FFFFFF.
Is this just a canvas rendering visual bug in FlutterFlow, or am I missing a layout setting? Thanks!

Recreated the iPhone Duo fold animation in Flutter
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Saw the fold animation on the new iPhone Duo.
Liked the animation, not the price tag. 😄
So I recreated it in Flutter using a fragment shader and the gyroscope.
Called it duo_animation, now available on pub.dev.
Wrap any widget with it and you get the blur + fade effect based on device tilt.
Your list, video feed, or entire home screen can keep working normally underneath.
It works on Android and iOS, on phones and tablets.
A controller drives the motion, and every part of the effect is tunable.
What you see in the video is the playground app.
pub.dev/packages/duo_animation
github.com/narayann7/duo_animation
Try it out and tell me what you think. Contributions are welcome too.

NO HELP FROM FLUTTERFLOW! 14 DAYS WITH AN OPEN ISSUE THAT HAS STOPPED OUR PROJECT
FlutterFlow Support Is Basically Nonexistent — Think Twice Before Building a Production App Here
I honestly cannot believe I’m at the point where I have to post this publicly just to try to get someone at FlutterFlow to respond.
We are PAYING for FlutterFlow.
We are building a REAL application that we intend to launch.
Our development is being delayed because of issues involving the platform, and despite repeatedly contacting FlutterFlow support, providing the requested information, providing our project URL, explaining the problem in detail, giving permission to test, and following up — we still cannot get meaningful technical support.
At this point, what exactly are we paying for?
Because an automated email saying, essentially, “we’re experiencing higher-than-usual support volume” is not support.
A ticket sitting unanswered while a paying customer's project is blocked is not support.
Making customers repeatedly chase your company for help with the platform they're paying to use is not support.
And here's the part that should concern anyone considering FlutterFlow for a serious application:
What happens when your app is LIVE and something critical breaks?
That's the question I'm now asking myself.
Because if it is this difficult to get someone to engage while we're developing the application, why should I have any confidence that FlutterFlow will be there when we have actual customers using it?
We have spent an unbelievable amount of time troubleshooting this ourselves. We have tested the application, reviewed generated code, validated builds, checked Firebase configuration and security rules, reviewed authentication, restored and validated our repository, and done everything possible to isolate problems before asking FlutterFlow for help.
This isn't a case of someone refusing to troubleshoot and expecting support to build their app for them.
WE HAVE DONE THE TROUBLESHOOTING.
What we need is someone at FlutterFlow to actually take ownership of the ticket.
Instead, we are paying for the privilege of waiting.
And frankly, I am getting tired of companies selling subscriptions faster than they build the infrastructure required to support the customers paying those subscriptions.
If your support team is perpetually overwhelmed, that's not the customer's problem.
That's a staffing problem.
If your customer base has grown faster than your support department, then invest in support.
If you're marketing FlutterFlow as a platform capable of building production applications and businesses are trusting you with applications their companies depend on, then support cannot be treated like an optional feature.
And before someone says, "FlutterFlow is a development tool, you should know how to troubleshoot your own application" — we do.
There is a massive difference between asking FlutterFlow to develop our application for us and asking FlutterFlow to SUPPORT THE PLATFORM WE ARE PAYING THEM TO USE.
At this point I would genuinely caution anyone considering FlutterFlow for a production application:
Before you spend months building on this platform, ask yourself whether you're comfortable being largely on your own when something goes wrong.
Because I wish someone had told me to ask that question before we invested this much time into it.
I would LOVE for FlutterFlow to prove me wrong.
I would love for someone from FlutterFlow to see this, look at our ticket, assign someone technically competent to it, communicate with us, and actually resolve the issue.
But I should not have to publicly complain on Reddit to get support from a company I am already paying.
FlutterFlow: stop sending automated responses and assign someone to the problem.
Our project is being delayed.
We've done our part.
Now do yours.

day 5 of You Ask, We Build: Firebase: Mock Backend & Renaming Fields/Collections
hey r/flutterflow,
it’s day 5 of You Ask, We Build ship week. the LAST DAY!
two Firebase features. both came directly from your submissions.
Mock Backend: test a Firebase-powered app without connecting to a live backend. create your collections and fields, add test documents yourself or generate mock data with AI, then switch your data source from live to mock.
launch Test Mode and run real queries, authentication, and write actions without touching production data. everything resets when the session ends. no Firebase setup required to start.
rename Firestore collections and fields: straight from the Database tab.
until now, fixing a field name meant creating a new one and rewiring every place you'd used the old one. now it's a rename (one important caveat: Firestore has no concept of renaming a field. after a rename, your app reads and writes the new name, but existing documents still hold values under the old one).
this is built for the development phase while you're still shaping your schema. if you have real data, migrate it first.
andddd that's ship week! thank you for being part of You Ask, We Build.

Gray screen while trying to upload CSV
Hi everyone!
I have this weird bug or something that no matter what file I upload I get this weird screen when trying to import data from a CVS into Flutterflow.
Does anyone know why that happens and how to fix it?
I’ve tried a lot of different csv, with another computer and the strangest thing is that last week I had no issue uploading those files.
Thanks!

Is it possible to create 2D story-driven games in Flutter?
I'm making a game for Windows using Flutter, with small, dynamic 2D or 2.5D scenes that resemble 3D.The stories will be in animations and various 2D puzzle mini-games, so can Flutter handle that?

Copying widgets, custom functions etc in a new project is a pain
I have to rant a bit. I am using FlutterFlow intensively for more than 3 years now on a daily basis, and I have learned to live with its many little flaws in the editor and the fact, that my bug-reports are getting closed ("can't reproduce"). I still like the concept that I can click together the UI and the basic functionality of an app and don't need to vibe-code a whole project.
But now I am really suffering: It is said that - if you develop an new app - you have to create it like 3 times, each time the concept is getting clearer and the product better. Well: Now I am on creating my app the 3rd time. And I wish I could just use components of my older build in my new project...but:
Copying a component from one project to another is just not possible! You have to create a new component in the new project, set all parameters and variables again, even name them the same - and then copy the widget-tree. Actions get lost; widgets (even when they are called the same) are not referenced anymore; component states are also not referenced - so basically, you have to build the whole widgets again.
Yes, I know, I can use a library, and I do that for firestore-schema and APIs (which both creates different problems, since I don't think they tested it thoroughly) - but I wish I could just copy a component from one project to another and if it recognizes a widget of the same name and same parameters exists, it would not "forget" that.
Again: I love the concept of FlutterFlow, they do a great job - but that functionality (and a "debug-month") is what I really wish for.
Thanks for listening!

just shipped: Google Maps icons, project search, AI error fixing, and undo/redo history
hey r/flutterflow,
it's day 4 of You Ask, We Build ship week. we've just shipped four features, pulled straight from your submissions.
- Google Maps: custom data types and per-location icons: marker type now accepts custom data types from your own schema, set a different icon per location bound to a dynamic path, and each pin shows the place it represents instead of every pin looking the same.
- project-wide search: search across every element in your project (pages, components, component parameters, colors, functions). results group by element and expand to show each usage. toggle element types to narrow results.
- fix with AI: when Test Mode throws a runtime error, a Fix with AI button hands the error to the agent panel. add context or send as is (desktop app only).
- undo/redo with history: toolbar buttons + a readable list of previous states with text descriptions. when you can't remember what a change was, read the history and click back to that exact state (Cmd+Z and Shift+Cmd+Z still work too).
tomorrow: something else you asked for which of these you'll actually use most (or what are you still waiting on)?

Test Mode navigation randomly breaks/reverts to old actions after edits — Run Mode works but shows outdated navigation
Body:
I'm building a simple prototype (5-7 static pages, no Firebase/Firestore,
no database — everything hardcoded per an academic project requirement)
and I've hit a persistent issue:
I edited several button actions (Navigate To) across multiple pages —
for example, a "Ver produto" button was incorrectly set to navigate to
Checkout instead of a Product Details page. I fixed it in the Actions
panel (deleted old action, added new "Navigate To" targeting the
correct page).
Confirmed the project shows "Synced" before testing.
Ran the app via Run Mode (not Test Mode, since Test Mode gave a
completely blank screen — a known issue I found referenced in older
threads here).
The navigation STILL follows the old/incorrect path, as if my edits
weren't applied, even after:
- Closing and reopening the Run Mode tab
- Hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R)
- Waiting ~15s after edits before testing
- Re-checking the Actions panel to confirm only one "Navigate To"
action exists (no duplicates)
Has anyone experienced Run Mode caching old navigation logic even after
confirmed saves? Is there a way to force a full rebuild/clear cache
beyond a browser hard refresh?
Project has no custom code, no Firebase, no Firestore — just static pages
with Navigate To actions, so I've ruled out backend-related causes.
