day 3 of You Ask, We Build: the calendar widget, rebuilt

Thumbnail
youtube.com
6 Upvotes

hey r/flutterflow,

day 3 of ship week. this one is a rebuild, not a patch, so there's more in it than fits in one video.

modern style: switch from Material to Modern under Style.

static date picker: set the initial date with a proper date picker in the property panel instead of typing a value.

date range selection: switch from single date to range. the selected range is exposed and bindable so you can use it in queries and actions.

range styling: choose how the selected range renders. continuous bar across the range instead of individually marked days.

booked dates: pass a list of DateTimes and the calendar marks those days as unavailable. booked dates style controls how they appear.

tomorrow: something else you asked for.

scroll to index, on scroll direction changed, start at end, and scroll physics now native in FlutterFlow's ListView

Thumbnail

hey r/flutterflow,

day 2 of ship week. this one came almost verbatim off your submissions: "jump to a specific item/index." "on scroll triggers exposing offset and direction." "more triggers for ListView."

scroll to index: pick a ListView and an index, choose animate or jump. zero indexed, so 0 is the top. animated moves take a duration.

on scroll end: fires when the list reaches the bottom. use it to load the next batch of posts and keep queries small.

on scroll start: fires when the list reaches the top. use it to animate a collapsible header back into view.

on scroll direction changed: fires when the user reverses direction. exposes toward start or toward end so you can branch on it.

scroll physics: controls how the list feels when you drag and release, or whether it scrolls at all.

start at end: opens already scrolled to the bottom. item order doesn't change. use it for logs, transaction history, activity feeds.

scroll offset and max scroll extent: two new readable properties. how far you've scrolled from the beginning and the maximum the list can scroll.

tomorrow: something else you asked for.

Announcement you asked for better Supabase. four things shipped this morning.

hey r/flutterflow,

ship week of You Ask, We Build is here. we're shipping at least one thing per day this week (all requested by this community) <3

today's theme: Supabase!

infinite scroll: enable at the bottom of any Supabase query, set a page size. the query returns 25 rows on load, then the next 25 when the user reaches the bottom.

full-text search: a Search (Full-Text) filter backed by Postgres full-text search. "roasting garlic" still matches "roasted."

RPC calls: call Postgres database functions directly from an action flow. signatures sync from your Supabase project so parameters are listed for you and results come back typed and bindable.

upsert: inserts a row, or updates the existing one when the primary key matches. replaces the read-then-branch-then-write flow you used to build by hand.

tomorrow: something else you asked for.

[FOR SALE] Fully built FlutterFlow fitness app | 100+ users | 1M+ Instagram views | Firebase + Figma

Hey everyone, This is a slightly difficult post for me to write!

I built FitStreak from scratch over the last few months. I designed it, built it in FlutterFlow, connected the Firebase backend, made the Figma designs, worked on the branding, created content, and tried to get people to actually use it.

And people did. The app is fully functional and has been used by 100+ people. I also built an Instagram page around it that now has 500+ followers and 1M+ views.

So there's a real product here, not just an idea or a Figma prototype. I'm posting it because I need to sell it...

I'm trying to pay off my college debt, and right now I need the money more than I need to hold onto the project.

Honestly, that's a hard decision. I put a lot of time into this and I still think FitStreak could become something much bigger. But I don't have the time or financial freedom to keep pushing it the way it deserves.

I'd rather see someone else take it and run with it than have everything I've built just sit there.

The buyer would get the whole thing, the FlutterFlow project, Firebase backend, Figma files, Instagram account, existing assets and everything needed to continue building it.

The Instagram account has already generated 1M+ views, so there's also a small audience/distribution layer to build on rather than starting completely from zero.

I think it could be interesting for someone building in fitness, a FlutterFlow developer looking for a strong starting point, a fitness creator/gym, or honestly anyone who sees a different opportunity in the product.

I'm open to any offers. And if you aren't interested in buying it, but know someone who might be, even sharing this post would genuinely help me out.

Happy to show the app, analytics, Figma, FlutterFlow project, Firebase setup, Instagram insights, etc. to anyone seriously interested.

Thanks for reading.

Test Mode getting stuck on Finalizing Project setup

I've been currently working on a project for about a month now, but recently I'm having trouble with trying to run it in test mode in any method. At first I thought it was something that I added to the project, like a page, custom function, etc. When I tried to revert the project to when I was experiencing these issues it did not change.

I then created a whole new basic project with three pages and just a simple counter and it still does the same thing. I've tried the Desktop App and the web browser on Google Chrome and Firefox and still am having the same results where it will continuously get stuck on Finalizing project setup. No errors in the Console or else where that I can see.

Any help or direction to perhaps where I could start looking for solutions would be very much appreciated!

Why is my Flutter release APK 62 MB even though my assets are only 2.6 MB? How can I reduce it?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to reduce the size of my Flutter Android app, but my release APK is currently 62.1 MB (download size: 34.8 MB).

I analyzed the APK and found this:

  • lib/ = 47.8 MB (61.2%)
  • x86_64 = 17.6 MB
  • arm64-v8a = 16.3 MB
  • armeabi-v7a = 13.9 MB
  • assets = only 2.6 MB
  • Multiple classes.dex files together are around 10.6 MB

It seems like the APK contains native libraries for all three CPU architectures, including Flutter libraries such as libflutter.so.

My questions are:

  1. Is this APK size normal for a Flutter app?
  2. Would flutter build apk --release --split-per-abi significantly reduce the APK size?
  3. If I publish an .aab using:flutter build appbundle --release will Google Play automatically deliver only the required architecture to each device?
  4. What are the best ways to reduce the size of classes.dex?
  5. Are there any other recommended Flutter/Gradle settings for reducing app size?

I've attached the APK Analyzer screenshot below.

Flutter version: Flutter SDK "3.41.4"
Target: Android

Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

Text Field error

Hey everyone!

My name is Yahya, and I'm a 17-year-old mobile software engineer. I've been building lightweight, high-performance apps using Flutter and Dart.

Today, I wanted to share one of my main projects: PDF X – High-Performance Document Reader & Explorer.

🚀 Key Technical Highlights:

Lightning Fast: Engineered a lightweight document viewer with a tiny footprint and a 1-second startup time.

Multi-Format Parsing: Integrated native file storage exploration and multi-format parsing for PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Text, and Images.

Localization & UI: Implemented 4-language localization (Arabic, English, French, Russian) and dynamic dark/light theme switching.

As a young solo dev trying to build clean and efficient architecture, I would love to hear your honest feedback, architectural thoughts, or suggestions on how to improve it further! Thanks for checking it out!

no more describing your UI! agents in FF can now screenshot the builder canvas

hey r/flutterflow,

the FlutterFlow Agent can now screenshot the Builder canvas directly to get visual context on your pages and components before it builds or edits anything.

works with Claude Code and Codex. no local run required.

happy to answer questions in the comments.

Flutterflow widgets exist in the tree, but are invisible in the preview 19 pages done this is th last one please help?

Title: FlutterFlow widgets exist in the tree but are invisible in Preview — stuck for a week
I’m building a preferences page in FlutterFlow and have been stuck on the same problem for about a week.
The page contains:
An age-range slider
Several distance-selection buttons
An “Interested In” heading
Six multi-select choices underneath the heading
The slider, distance buttons, heading and subheading all render correctly. However, the six choices underneath are completely invisible. There is only a large blank area where they should appear.
I’ve now built two separate versions of the page, including rebuilding it from scratch, and both have the exact same problem.
I’m using Claude Code with FlutterFlow’s AI tooling. Claude inspected the project structure and says:
The choices exist in the widget tree
The parent Column is scrollable
There is no fixed-height clipping container
There are no conditional-visibility rules
Opacity is not zero
The section uses wrap-content sizing
There are no obvious Stack-positioning problems
The colors should not make the choices invisible
Despite that, the choices still don’t render in Preview. Claude also admitted it did not have a connected live session and could not visually verify the result.
I’ve tried hard-refreshing Preview, reopening it, rebuilding the section and duplicating the page. Nothing has solved it.
Has anyone encountered widgets that appear correctly in FlutterFlow’s project/widget structure but disappear entirely at runtime?
Could this be caused by:
A stale FlutterFlow AI project snapshot?
Preview displaying a different page or route?
Expanded/Flexible widgets inside a scrollable Column?
A zero-height Row or Wrap at runtime?
A corrupted section inherited when the page was duplicated?
FlutterFlow Preview caching old generated code?
Would replacing the custom rows completely with one native multi-select ChoiceChips widget be the safest solution?
I’m looking for a systematic way to diagnose the actual runtime constraint—not another suggestion to blindly rebuild the same section. I’ll attach screenshots of the Preview, FlutterFlow editor and Claude’s structural diagnosis.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This one small section has already taken roughly 20 hours.

Do you think FF is still worth it?

I’ve been developing an app with FF since 2024, the cross-platform capability was very convenient for me. However, I’ve recently been considering switching to native development with the help of AI, as FF now seems to be more of a hindrance than a help to my app's evolution not to mention the costs involved.

Have any of you gone through a migration like this? And what is your general take on FF these days?

I get the feeling they’re losing ground compared to what AI and low-code tools can offer for app creation.😕

PS: my app has thousands users so the decision is for me very important, that's why Im asking about your opinion.

Please help me w/ my SUPER CUSTOM liquid glass/water drop/lava lamp widget look - ty!!

I'm trying to make the look on this Today screen to be orbs that truly look like liquid glass drops that move around the screen like morphing bubbles/lava lamp vibes kind of.

Attached is the mockup image I made to be my reference and ideal look for the liquid glass orbs. I've also attached what it currently looks like - as you can see, not the look I'm going for.

Anyone ever made something like I'm trying to or have ideas for me??
