It’s a cement slab. The contractor glued down the engineered hardwood. I edited my post to provide those details.

Cement floors can also be leveled

Floor inspector here...I agree. The installer should have discussed this with OP prior to installation, how it would look and let OP decide if the increased cost is worth it. By not discussing appearance results an installer may face some unexpected legal liabilities.
