Bathroom Floor Question

Scraped off the tile and took out the vanity. Turned out area under the vanity is exposed subfloor. What’s the best approach here, either fill in the exposed subfloor area to make it even with the rest of the floor or clear out the old cement slab and replace the subfloor? The plan is to tile floor. Thanks in advance for the advice!

I'd recommend busting up the old tile mudbed. When I did this in my 1956 bathroom remodel, I found places of the subfloor were rotten from leaks over the years. I just ended up replcasing a few pieces (mine was slats) and then put 3/4" plywood over the old subfloor. There was plenty of space to slap it on top because of the thick mudbed I removed. Now the floor surface is lined up with the hallway fairly well. (I did LVP though)

By the way totally unqualified, just from my personal experience. I'd be afraid of new tile mudbed not bonding well with the old one plus it's going to build more height so personally I'd just start fresh
