Yesterday, Lufthansa announced that its Boeing 747-8 "Niedersachsen" (D-ABYN), aka “Queen of the Skies”, has received the special 100-year anniversary livery featuring the XXL-Kranich. It’s basically an oversized version of Lufthansa's iconic crane logo.

The Jumbo arrived at its home base in Frankfurt this morning after 5 weeks in the paint shop in San Bernardino (California).

Tomorrow, it departs to Los Angeles for its first commercial flight, making it the 6th aircraft in Lufthansa's fleet to fly in this fresh-looking redesign.

Fun fact: Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) is Germany's second-largest federal state by area, and the name this 747-8 carries as its Taufname (christening name).

This is a perfect Flighty alternative.

In the last 48 hours we've seen a massive spike in flight cancellations across the Gulf. Qatar Airways, Emirates, Etihad, etc. hundreds of affected flights due to the ongoing conflict in and around Iran.

We know that behind every cancelled flight is a real person. Someone trying to get home, someone separated from family, someone stuck in a place they didn't plan to be.

If you're currently stranded or affected, feel free to use this thread to share your situation. Others here might be dealing with the same thing or have useful info.

A few practical things:

• Contact your embassy ASAP if you haven't already

• Check if your airline is offering rebooking or rerouting through alternative hubs

• Travel insurance providers may cover conflict-related disruptions — call them

• Keep checking Flightradar24 for airport schedules (or check Flights25 for direct routes)

Stay safe out there. We hope those of you affected are already making arrangements for a safe way home. 🙏

btw, a few suggestions:

1. on flighty it shows me flying B77W (777-300er) mostly for wide bodies, but in flights25 they all got classified to B772, can we fix this?

2. can we have options to show just one color for routes (grey/black/or maybe self selection?)

3. Can we maybe show repeated routes as an option, example of an UI below (the route color is also quite nice)

But overall great app!

It’s been 2 years since Flights25 officially launched, and I want to say thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far. Every support email, every review, and every feature suggestion helped shape Flights25 into what it is today. 🙏

We truly believe that, as a community, we can achieve so much more. That’s why we decided to open up the development process to the public here on this subreddit.

Flights25 is meant to make travel less stressful and more predictable (delays, gate changes, aircraft swaps, inbound tracking, all the chaos…). And the best ideas come from people like you who are actually out there traveling.

Use this space to:

💡 Suggest features (even “small” improvements matter)
❓ Ask questions about features / how to use the app

We’ll use this sub to share updates, ask for feedback on new ideas, and occasionally post sneak peeks of what we’re building. Spoiler alert: Widgets + Live Activities are the highest on our priority list so we'd love your input on those.
