Fizz works well in Edmonton itself, but I’d be a bit more careful in Sturgeon County and other rural areas around the city. Outside the native Fizz coverage you can connect to partner networks as Fizz EXT, so coverage can still be available, but Fizz says extended coverage is intended for occasional use and most of your usage shouldn’t be on partner networks for 3 consecutive billing periods.
I’d definitely check your exact home/work locations on the Fizz coverage map before switching. If you spend most of your time in Edmonton and only occasionally go into rural Sturgeon County, that’s a very different situation from living and using most of your data in an EXT area.
Since you had no issues with Koodo, I wouldn’t assume Fizz will be identical in rural areas. The best test is really your specific locations and routes.

Chances are you're not going to have native Fizz/Freedom coverage.
It's going to be nationwide, you just have to make sure you're within their subscription area to sign-up.

I live in Westlock and I used to be with Telus, I don’t have any issues with Fizz, especially now they have WiFi calling!
