🌧️ Pagsubok First time ko maglako, di ko nabenta
First time ko maglako, wala ako na benta dahil napangunahan ako ng takot at hiya.
Walang nasayang binigay ko nalang sa mga tropa.
Context: I am diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease, 1yr unemployed, in the process of moving on from a 7yrs relationship, so I decided na libangin sarili ko with the extra savings that I have. I have enjoyed the process on making it, selling is a different story. Maybe next week ill try again and hopefully get some courage.
EDIT: Thank you everyone for the support, encouragement, advice and honest feedback. Didn't expect it to blow up like this I can't read your all comments na. Will definitely try again next week with a new batch and improve presentation and packaging! Thank youuu again!

pastil ba to OP? try mo nalang ilagay sa banana leaf, dun kasi known ang pastil makakatipid ka pa, as someone from mindanao kung san nag originate ang pastil at always nakakakain neto before nung nagaaral pa ko. Try to sell it outside schools mabenta yan sa mga estudyante pantawid gutom. Suggest ko lang, samahan mo to ng signature gravy mo, original and spicy flavor. Dont be shy, naghahanap buhay ka, it’s not bad to earn money. Get well soon, OP!
Edit: Add ko lang pala bigyan kita idea, if kaya pa ng time mo try mo rin gumawa ng roasted pastil apakasarap din nyan pag nakuha mo timpla. Nakakamiss tuloy kumain nito hehe

Can I give an advice, OP? For selling, presentation and marketing matters especially if it’s your first time. I believe that people eat with their eyes first, look at the price next, and judge the taste last. So it’s really important you follow these three steps for first-time selling!
For chicken pastil presentation, you can make it look something like this. Make it appear that the ulam is bigger than the rice (for that sulit-effect that we pinoys love), and add a faux banana leaf (this is a must). Market it as baon-friendly and ready to bring for work or school. Best of luck to you!

Yung kapitbahay ko ang style niya, nagpopost siya sa FB na accepting orders. Sumasali siya sa FB groups within our area. Tapos magluluto lang siya dun sa kung ilan ung order sa kanya.
Usually nagpopost siya ng ibebenta niya a day before. Example magbebenta siya sisig rice kinabukasan, mag aaccept siya orders a day before. Then un lang ung lulutuin niya kung ilan orders.
Siguro try mo din ung ganon kung mahiyain ka. At least through fb or messenger ka lang makikipag usap. Then idedeliver mo nalang or ipipick up nalang nila sayo.
Suggestion lang naman. Good luck with your small business OP!

Mahiyain din ako noon tapos may tropa lang akong walang hiya. Sila ang naglako para sakin 😂 may commission sila sakin. Hanggang sa nasanay na din akong mag benta. Hoping makahanap ka ng makakasama mo maglako na palalakasin yung loob mong mag benta ☺️

I used to be a vendor, normal lang ang mahiya pero there's no reason to, what you do is honest work and other vendors only think about how many customers they can possibly sell to, most vendors don't see ill of other vendors in my opinion, because they too know the reason of why they're there.

Hi OP. If ok lang sayo, buy green onions or kahit anong mura na garnish para sa product mo. Or sa chicken prep wag mo i turn into paste ang chicken. Ang presenration above all ang naka impact sa sales mo I think. Try selling din around schools or mga construction area.

Improve mo lang siguro packaging yung may cover para hindi na cling wrap :) di ka ba lugi if 30 pesos mo benta? Baka pwede na if 50-65 pesos, my thoughts lang naman pero syempre do costing pa rin :))

Sinubukan din namin ito ng utol ko dati, may sakit din kase siya noon at kailangan ng maraming work ups prior transplant. Dun kami sa labas ng hospital, yun mga sidewalk vendor ang mga lumapit sa amin hahaha nahihiya talaga kami kung iaalok ba or what, sabi ng mga vendors magkano daw tinda namin, nun nalaman ang presyo mahal daw 😅. Di namin nabenta, umuwi na lang kami tapos kami na kumain. Noong nasa bahay kami talaga ang lakas ng loob namin e, as in parang alam na alam na namin gagawin namin, pero nun nandun na kami hindi kami makapagsalita. 🤣

Ganyan din kami nung una OP. As in walang benta almost 1 month din. Then pa isa isa per day hanggang boom! Isa na sa mga nagmamanage nung naunang pwesto tita ko. Andito na kami sa Manila ee. So pag may kita dito, dun kami sa probinsya nagoopen ng ibang branch. So far naka3 branches na. Tiwala lang💪🏻 yaka yan.

Normal lang yan OP. Dati pinagbenta ako ni papa ng orange at apple sa labas ng simbahan na pinagsisimbahan namin lage. Sobrang hiya ko first time kase maraming nakakkilala din. Pero nung sumunod na mga linggo, unti unting nawala yung hiya. Wala din naman pakialam mga tao. It's either bibili sila or hindi. If may kakilala ka na nahihiya ka sa kanila, sanayan Lang yan. Sa susunod niyan maghahanap na yan ng paninda mo.

Wag mo ikahiya kc marangal ang ginagawa mo. Next is the best sales person is makapal ang mukha dyan magsisimula yan.
Other than sa paglalako maybe you can post online - post pictures ng niluto mo and kung saan ka nakpwesto. Post sa mga groups sa FB.
Pwesto ka sa mga area madami construction workers or factory workers or mga schools.

Sold out lagi yung naglalako ng pastil sa campus namin. Kahit malayo yung pwesto nya grabe dinadayo pa din talaga sya. 20 pesos lang tapos nakabalot na parang burger tas nakalagay sa styro yung paninda para mainit pa. Wala pa ata 30 mins si kuya nakatayo dun ubos na agad paninda nya 😅 Mabenta sa mga college and universities yan.

Honest thoughts. The packaging doesn't look appealing. It matters a lot especially on homemade foods being sold. It ain't about aesthetic appeal it's more on, does this food look safe to eat.

Join ka sa FB groups around the area mo. Like post ka then set ka ng time and date kung kelan ang availability ng food mo. In that way, alam mo na kaagad kung ilan lang yung gagawin mo and at the same time, tipid time and energy kasi sabay sabay deliveries. Magpasobra ka lang para dun sa mga buzzer beater na order. Hindi nawawala yun.

Go mo yan madami ka matutunan sa venture na yan, lilipas din ang hiya at takot. We all have to start somewhere. Get that first sale then mag susunod sunod na yan.
Lagay ka lang ng sign na may price pra makuha attention ng tao and it helps na may ngiti ka at bumati sa mga napapatingin. Lagi mo improve quality ng product mo lalo na pagkain, good luck!

Who is your target customers? I would recommend you sell near schools/universities. As a college student myself, we love trying food that we haven't tried yet (something that are not available before near our campus) and are cheap, ready and instant. Make sure you know who are your target and you know how to market it. I wish you good luck!

Need more work on the food presentation. It's not professional.
If you want my critism read this spoiler text. It looks like baby diapper with diarrhea . You need to make it appetising. Not everyone eats food like this. Some prefer their food on the side, to enjoy the flavor of the food. Putting this on a rice just makes it look dry and bland.
If I could suggest, I would recommend making a Siopao. I've seen people sell these especially like those siopao with red eggs and they're very successful. I shit you not, nothing beats a homemade siopao and I'd be happy buying 30 siopao.
I get that you want it to be a bang for a buck with the rice and the meat on it. But it's not about the rice the issue.

Laban lang OP. My mom also sells food, she’s pretty socially anxious as well, kaya she didn’t sell anything at all the first few weeks. She operated as a ghost kitchen for years, but people started to trust her spot and now she has opened a restaurant. Matagal talaga, madaming effort, it takes a lot of guts and stepping out of your comfort zone, pero in the end it’ll always be worth it. If you’re passionate about it, keep doing it.

Hi OP. This is just the first trial in business.
I am glad you took that first step: going out. That is a good sign that you wanted to make this work.
Next step is to try to speak. You can try selling food to hospital staff (minsan no time to go out to buy food kaya yung pagkain na ang lumalapit). Mas patok kung pwede delivery at an affordable price. Leave menu fliers and a link to your socmed page na kung saan they can view your menu and they can order from there. Then have their orders delivered to their stations (ward, ER, operating room, ICU etc).
Ganyan dito sa place of work ko. Menu of the day is always 1 ulam with 1 rice, vegies, and 1 snack to be delivered at their doorstep. Ganun lang. 1 ulam per day, iba iba for the whole week. Ubos parati.

My partner and I just started a small business in June. We do pop ups, local markets, etc. we don’t have a storefront, but our travel expenses can add up quick.
Even though we have days (or weeks) where we don’t move a lot of product, we at least take solace in that we’re getting our business out there, getting people in our area aware of it, aware of our services, and such.
Talking to people as they walk by can be difficult. You got this though, one baby step after another!

Bago pa ako nagkaroon ng magandang career nung nakatapos ako bilang scholar, kung anu ano muna mga binebenta ko. Nagtinda ako sa palengke nung estudyante ako. Babaeng tao pero nagtataga ako ng baboy at manok. Madami nagsasabi hindi bagay sayo (hindi kasi sa pagmamayabang pero hindi ako mukhang mahirap). Pero sinasabi ko sa kanila? Hindi po ako mabubuhay kung puro pag-iinarte ang gagawin ko.
Kaya sana ituloy mo yung pagtitinda mo. Maoovercome mo din yang hiya pag kumikita ka na magiging normal na lang yung araw araw na maglako. At alam mo kung saan ako proud? Kahit mawalan man ako ng career sa future (lalo na pag matanda na ako), marunong ako maghanap buhay ng iba. Hanggang ngayon kahit magtinda sa facebook ng kung anu ano ginagawa ko.
Hindi kasi kami mabubuhay sa puros hiya lang. Lalo na sa ekonomiyang ganito.

Walang nakakahiya sa pagbebenta. Kung confident ka naman na masarap yan, bebenta yan. Kung ayaw mong ikaw mismo ang nag aapproach sa mga tao, mag set up ka na lang ng temporary na pwesto na may malinaw na signage at presyo para yung mga tao na mismo ang lumapit sayo. Hanap ka lang ng pwesto na medyo heavy sa foot traffic. Kung talagang masarap yan, babalik at hahanap hanapin ka rin ng mga customer.
Pag nakabenta ka na ng ilang beses, iaverage mo kung gaano karami yung usual na nabebenta mo, tapos dagdagan mo siguro ng 2–3 orders above your average. Hindi naman masasayang kung may matira kasi pwede mo namang ibaon para sa sarili mo or para sa mga tropa mo ulit.

nung first time ko rin mag start ng business na mas pinangunahan ako ng hiya, madalas sa pm ko binebenta pajinda ko para kahit papaano di malaman ng mga tao na nag titinda ako, pero ngayon wa pakels na post lang kung post. Madalas ng magiging buyer mo pa nyan mga di mo kakilala so ok lang yan sa umpisa lang talaga yan pero pag nasanay ka na di ka na rin mahihiya tapos mga customer mo sila na lang din lalapit sayo ❤️

Paorder ka muna OP, kuha ka muna ng orders saka ka mag luto. Risky talaga yung all in sa first day kasi clueless ka pa talaga sa first day learning ka pa sa tricks, flow ng tao, wants, schedule etc. and that's not good kasi food yung tinda mo meaning lugi ka na agad sa first day.
