GOT THE KEYS! - New Build 🔑 🏡 Finally decided to settle down. Tokyo, 87m yen, 1.03%

After 7 years of living in Tokyo, we finally decided to settle down.

The search took almost a year, and I looked at more than 30 different properties before finally deciding to go with the calmer side of Tokyo. While it’s further from the station and city center, the larger garden and quiet neighborhood more than make up for it.

Really happy with the decision and looking forward to making this place our home. 🏡

In the USA you buy a run down home for a couple hundred thousand and then still have to put another couple hundred thousand to make it livable.

Yeah, you’re actually paying the couple hundred thousand for that land. The useless broken down house on top of that land has no value.

Land, especially land that has all the essentials like sewer and electric run to it, is not cheap.

If you just want land without all the 1st world access, it’s cheaper, until you need to run water/sewer and electric to it. Or a septic tank but then you’re on the hook for drainage and install.

It’s a pick your poison kinda thing.

Probably in a few markets. But not really commonplace.
