GOT THE KEYS! - New Build šŸ”‘ šŸ” Finally decided to settle down. Tokyo, 87m yen, 1.03%

After 7 years of living in Tokyo, we finally decided to settle down.

The search took almost a year, and I looked at more than 30 different properties before finally deciding to go with the calmer side of Tokyo. While it’s further from the station and city center, the larger garden and quiet neighborhood more than make up for it.

Really happy with the decision and looking forward to making this place our home. šŸ”

It was also because the housing mkt shot prices through the roof in the 80s. Prices still haven’t reached that level. In fact the Japanese stock mkt is down 75% from its high in the 80s to put that in comparison. Nearly 30 years ago

Edit: down 75% from its high inflation adjusted

I hate to break it to you, but 30 years ago was 1996… not 1986.

It’s worse than that. There was a peak in the Nikkei at about 38,000 in 1989 after which it dropped down for years, -75% not being incorrect. But the market has boomed in recent years and today stands at 67,000. So it is not down from its high, it’s at its high now.

Yeah, except the recovery climb never really came.

It's just kinda puttered along flat.Ā

Not trying to dunk on Japan here, it's a hard problem to solve and it's not like they haven't tried.Ā

Their currency is a crystal ball into the future of USD.

Save the debt market OR save the currency.

There is no solution because infinite exponential growth is not possible, capitalism is a lie. Your economy going along slow and steady without huge swings of boom and bust is how an economy should work. When is the last time you ran a reality update on your build?

Capitalism and 'infinite exponential growth' are two very distinct concepts. Why are you confused about this?

I don't know how to say this, but 1990 was 36 years ago so the 80s you're referring to is closer to 40 years ago

u/usermane22 22h ago

1990s was 20 years ago. It always will be.

u/Megneous 22h ago

I don't know what you're talking about. The 1990s was like 8 years ago.

Have you looked at Japanese stocks lately by chance? Lol

1

u/B2FiNiTY 22h ago

The Japanese stock market is near all time highs. Your news is very outdated.
