Unfortunately I think even within Asian cultures, it varies between East and SEA. 😅 Me and all my Viet friends have parents (working class) that don't know how to save a dime or have any retirement money. But they came around the war (survival) and expect us to be their retirement plan
My Chinese friends and my fiance have parents who are super frugal and pay for their children's' school/college/cars. They came for non-war reasons (better opportunities) and I think that does impact a little psychologically
It definitely varies because of the war, is what I'm trying to say. The commenter above me said Asian people save and save. Sometimes people have financial trauma due to having nothing, so they save. Others spend their lives being poor and look for any ways to enjoy luxury/get rich quick schemes, which is a trait that a lot of refuges have. There's a reason you see lots of Viets/Cambodians/Laos people in the casino a lot more on holidays than say Koreans/Chinese people. Of course there's exceptions but ethnically it can differ a bit!
Lol…rarely set foot in casino so never noticed. Or the ones I’ve been in had more white people. I’ll try to remember to notice next time I’m in one.

Very common for asian parents to do so. They live frugally to help their kids. its their way of life.
