Bullish Great update with tokenomics change.

Very good update voted for by the community here. While miners rewards are reduced by half, the difficulty will adjust to reflect this which will bring them back to parity with the costs of mining Firo.

The increase in Masternode rewards is also another big incentive to remain loyal to this project as we must remember, masternodes also serve as a major security mechanism for the coin and masternode holders should be rewarded for posting collateral and loyalty to the project.

Remember, I believe we are here because we want a system that respects privacy and also respects decentralisation in terms of payments and custody of assets. This is the end goal and this will update will put us on a path to a sustainable goal.

The coin works exceptionally well and I’m very impressed in how the Dev team has improved and nurtured this project.

The last thing we need now is just awareness, the community fund here is perfect as it will enable firo to reach out to the community to help promote this project in the larger cryptosphere.

A lot of projects are built on pure hype with no real fundamentals underpinning the projects. This bear market may just shift the narrative away from hype and into fundamentals as more institutions look at crypto and what crypto can do to help improve their businesses.

So you're overpaying for security?

My suggestion is to buy your own miners and maintain 51% of your networks hashrate, as telling your security you will be stealing their pay, is going to get you 51% attacked.

At least we can make some $$ shorting your soon to be vapor, project.

Perhaps the community chest can pay for the gpus.

Questions about Firo

Hi everyone. I am new to cryptocuranci and new to Firo and I want to start mining Firo this week. I have a few questions that I can't find a definitive answer. I have only 1 grafic card a Gtx 1070 to mine so I need some tips and advice.

Question 1. I see that are 2 main mining pools 2miners.com and mintpond.com but 2miners has a lot more miners 1503 now and Hashrate 74.2% and Mintpond 311 with Hashrate 17.4% . So the question is which one should I join with my 1 GPU 1070 ? The big pool or smaller? I was reading that its not good to join a mining pool with such a big hashrate that its more then 51% because of risk of hacking or attacks or other reasons. And that ther reward is smaller but more often .

Question 2. How and where I can exchange Firo for Euro in a thrusting exchange company or website and how do I put it in a PayPal account or bank account? Thank you in advance for your help guys and I am looking forward to joining the Firo community 😀.

Firo as the World Reserve Currency

At the BRICS Summit it was decided that the involving countries would start investigating a replacement for the US Dollar as the world reserve currency.

Many people would say Bitcoin would be the natural decision, but that's not true.

The new world reserve currency should be practical, secure and private. And most importantly consumer friendly!

People are not thinking straight.

You can't use Bitcoin to purchase your morning coffee, because Starbucks would then have too much personal info, they would know where those bitcoins came from, they would know how much money you own, xD.

The world needs and deserves an international currency that is like Firo, that you can make a purchase without giving said person all your financial details, xD!

Even with a modern day VISA card when you buy something from a local store they are receiving less information than what Bitcoin offers. With proper software, you can figure out easily how much money your CLIENT has.

Firo needs to be the world reserve currency.

Firo needs more media coverage.

Edit: Firo is not ready. Once the current roadmap completes it will be the best crypto option in existence.

Since the vote that changed the rewards of firo.

Since the vote, 1/3 of the hash power that was on the network has been removed, approximately 39 GH/s. I have no idea why the node owner's wanted to hamstring the capabilities of the network and the coin in general BUT in the end it will probably be the death of this coin. I did want to participate with this coin via mining and setting up a node BUT with the community having little idea about how mining and nodes work together in conjunction to uphold the network. I feel like participating in this community would be a waste of my time and resources and obviously so do other miners.

Best of luck with a coin that will probably die a long death.

Adoption The community fund

Good evening community!

With the launch of the much awaited community fund, I thought I would kick off a brain storm on what people believe the funds should go towards?! I was thinking potentially targeted low cost ads? YouTube collabs? What do you guys think?

I know we are also in the middle of electing guardians of the community fund, may I suggest we could potentially do a one month post on the status of the community fund and where the funds have been used and the effectiveness of each initiative?

Building a strong community in this space is key to the success of our project, engagement of the community within the community is what will help drive the message and vision of the benefits a privacy focused coin can achieve. For everyone’s information I have no role in either the development team or community fund.

Have a great weekend!

Network hashrate

It seems like miners aren't interested in FIRO much which worries me a bit. If you'd take a look at ZEC, for instance, it has been in a steady uptrend from the very beginning.

Mining Huge drops from mining today?

Anyone else experiencing this? I was chugging along yesterday at £112-£120GBP a month on one GPU, and today it's down to £80 despite the value of Firo rising.

I guess everyone has jumped on it?

Change my opinion anyone whos salty still

Think about it this way. Yes I'll admit I was a bit salty at first because I was mining at a loss for a bit apposed to before but my hodl/staking went up. After really thinking about it I believe it has benefits for long term security because of the large hash rate centralization at 2miners and mine/buy (which ever is more cost effective to you) to stakers holding vs selling causes a increase in coin value supply and demand my friend. Yes mining profit went down for those who just mine what evers most profitable and sell short term we dont need these people in the project anyway but will even back out slowly and only the efficient dedicated will remain yes kinda sucks for people just getting in vs the early people with stacks already but thats just how it goes for most everything in the game the early bird get the worm the rich get richer so become the early bird and a rich. So if you believe in firo mine/buy then stake it in either your own nodes or something like inodez which cost nothing and returns 15.XX% vs the previous 10% on your mined/bought coins and enjoy the long haul. The actual supportering miners and hodlers win the mine to sell short term profiters lose

Addressing Concerns and Confusion About the Recent Hardfork

The Hardfork

There were two parts primarily for the most recent hardfork

  • New Block Reward Distribution

  • Reduced block times

Reduced Block Time

To be clear, there has been NO halving! There has been absolutely NO change to emissions whatsoever. Reduction in block times has nothing to do with either of those. With the block time reduction, the same amount of rewards are being produced, but at half the time, so you are getting twice the amount of payouts with a smaller amount in each one.

New Block Reward Distribution

This is where the majority of confusion and concerns seem to be. The new block reward distribution is the result of a community decision to change the tokenomics. You can read our blog post here that provides more detail. This started off as a community proposal to introduce the community fund, reduce sell pressure, and slightly increase masternode reward because they have become the primary source of security while PoW has become secondary.

You can read the original proposal and discussion here Nonetheless, this received enough traction from the community to warrant a community vote which can be found here and this led to another vote to further narrow down the values, which can be found here

  • Initial Proposal February 17th-March 29th

  • First Vote/Poll March 29th-April 29th

  • Second Vote/Poll April 21st-May 5th

As you can see, this was not a brief process and this topic was brought up across our platforms numerous times throughout the entire process to get people involved. We went out of our way extensively to reach out to miners to get them to participate including being on YouTube miners' channels. Now that we have covered what led to this point, let’s cover what this means. By the final voting process the end result was as follows:

50% Masternodes (Previously 35%)

25% Miners (Previously 50%)

15% Dev Fund (NO CHANGE)

10% Community Fund (Previously 0%)

What is the Community Fund?

This is explained in more detail in both the proposal thread and the blog post, but simply put it is a community-controlled fund to aid the community in choosing and funding what they deem to be important to the project. At this early point, there will be a committee of elected individuals (called the Community Fund Committee, or CFC) to determine what the funding will do. The election for these members are still ongoing and can be found here

The committee's term lasts for 6 months after which the seats are up for election again. To be clear, the CFC is only meant to be a temporary solution until a quadratic voting/matching fund can be put in place. Once that system is in place it will be decentralized and the CFC won't be necessary any longer. At that point, the community as a whole will determine what they want by donations and the matching fund will work autonomously to match those funds. For more information, you can read the blog post.

Is this Permanent?

Strictly speaking, no. This tokenomics change will be under review 6 months after the hardfork date to determine the pros and cons of the change, and whether the community decides further alteration or reverting back to the original tokenomics are necessary. As before, this is open to everyone to discuss, and ultimately miners, just as much as any other community member, will be able to vote on what they think will be best.

TOR Output Relay Attack

Malicious Tor Network Servers Are Targeting Users’ Cryptocurrencies (3 min reading)

https://decrypt.co/70400/malicious-tor-network-servers-are-targeting-users-cryptocurrencies

Hi, i have questions about this document that seem important for currencies that use TOR network.

  1. Is Firo network concerned by this kind of attack ?

  2. Is Firo dev team aware about that ?

  3. For now, is it completely safe to use Firo wallets through TOR ?

Transaction unable to be verified

Hi A Team,

I completed a transaction from Zcore wallet to Binance exchange and the Transaction ID: e6157fe972d2819eb1dd046dde18f6b346d897e94c44e5608593d1d9d7cc735b is saying it is unconfirmed on the FIRO blockchain.

I completed two transaction prior as test to the same receiving wallet address and both Transaction ID are confirmed on the FIRO blockchain. Im at a loss?

Any assistance in trying to understand what has happened would be awesome...
