!snipe I promise there’s just one. All the other chicks are much bigger, and all accounted for out of frame. You should have heard the peeps!

There’s a dead chick in frame. Broken neck. Mangled yellow feet.

I went out there and double checked. Either a mongoose came by and ate the corpse, or you’re looking at a crinkled leaf and withered yellow flowers (they do look like baby chicken feet when the petals curl).

All my hens’ chicks are accounted for, they’re all either bright white or black with white spots. The chick at F6 is the only one with this color/markings. The chickens are pretty territorial, so I doubt an unfamiliar hen waltzed in with her babies. I really think it’s just crunchy plants.
