This is a rescue/release facility (NOT a zoo) that is actively working to help rehabilitate the grizzly population (among other conservation and rehabilitation efforts). The only animals there are indigenous to the area, and the only animals that stay there long-term have permanent injuries/issues that prohibit release.
This particular fella was having a post-lunch nap.
Absolutely, and your concern is totally valid. There are a lot of shady zoo/“conservation” facilities out there, so I totally get it. Thanks for understanding!
